  • Combat sports within schools are problematic (especially wrestling)

I am against all combat sports available for teens at high schools. First, our society doesn't know how to treat controlled combat/fighting with respect. This is due to the fact that our society abuses individual freedom and opportunity to the level where the strong often justifies dehumanizing and emasculating the weak to show dominance.

After all, cases of bullying and humiliation are so rampant within the scholastic wrestling world among teens. Such examples include locker room bullying to show who is strong over the other. This can and will ruin a person's life and doesn't accomplish anything.

For societies like Japan, the kind of bullying related to combat sports within the US would never be tolerated. Japanese society values group harmony so everyone has to act the same. Even with bullying present within high school Kendo and Judo, it is never to that same degree.

I am also going to play the person who supports combat sports for teens at high schools. Another reason why I am against high school wrestling is because of our society’s view on boxing, even amateur boxing. Both amateur wrestling and amateur boxing are highly respected sports in representing Team USA at the Summer Olympic Games. Within the US Armed Forces, they are both highly respected combat sports. Yet within the scholastic community (high schools and universities) wrestling gets much respect and boxing doesn’t. This to me is a symbol of our society being biased towards boxing in saying that it is a dangerous sport for violent people.

First of all, this is not true considering that boxing is highly regulated in regards to the rules. And even supposing that it is brutal and violent, it is no different than wrestling being grotesque due to its methods of weight loss which can be fatal (as well as bad quality sanitation on the mat).

Therefore, as long as amateur boxing isn’t well-respected and high school boxers don’t have scholarship privileges like high school wrestlers do, I feel the need to question scholastic wrestling being present within our system of (academic) education. Both combat sports deserve EQUAL respect due to their history within the US.

  • Wrestling and self defense should not be banned from schools

Kids need wrestling in there lives, imagine your kid walking down the street and someone attacks them, they would need to defend themselves, unless you just want your kid to get beat up. Wrestling is very useful because it will help kids learn defense and they wouldn't get injured or harmed if they get attacked.

  • Wrestling is essential

Wrestling is essential because it helps to build up your self protection.Other than that it may help you to build up your body.In the other words it makes you a muscular person. And it comes to wwe it's all about entertainment and school wrestling should not be based up on that.So as of that wrestling should not be banned in schools!

  • Wrestling is a legitimate sport.

Wrestling is a legitimate sport in which many students take pride participating. It is not anymore violent than other contact sports like football. It also requires a lot of stamina and strength that require participants to be physically fit. If wrestling is banned from schools, then one could make a valid argument that other contact sports should be banned as well.

  • Wrestling should not be banned in schools

Wrestling in high school sports has seen criticism, but it is not inherently any more dangerous than other sports. The danger comes from the pressure placed on athletes to "cut weight" to wrestle in lower weight classes. This pressure comes from coaches and parents and can cause the wrestlers to engage in dangerous diets and attempts to lose water weight that lead to dehydration. If weight classifications and the way athletes are prepared for competition can be revised, wrestling can continue as a part of high school athletic programs.
