  • Renewable energy is not always good.

    1. Firstly renewable energy is ugly and destroys beautiful landscapes.
    2. Some forms of renewable energy are more expensive per kW/H than the same amount produced by a power station.
    3. Wind turbines kill birds as the turbines can be installed in a bird migration area. They interrupt TV signal and animal orientation signals. They are noisy.
    4. For one nuclear power station to be replaced by renewable energy, you would need 4000 wind turbines to produce the same amount of energy as the nuclear station.
    5. The sun doesn't always shine, the wind doesn't always blow, and sea is not always wavy.

  • Renewable energy is not efficient enough

    Non-renewable energy is very effective and renewable energy is not.
    One of the biggest problems with america is our economy and switching to renewable energy will put a huge strain on the economy. We do need to use renewable energy IN THE FUTURE but not now it is simply not effective enough to be integrated into our everyday lives

  • Renewable Energy is very expensive, it should be made more efficient before we use it.

    Renewable energy does not match the amount of energy that can be produced in a fossil fuel power plant. Fossil fuels are more efficient at producing energy. To be able to equal the amount of energy that is produced with fossil fuels, many more renewable energy plants would have to be built to account for the lower amount of energy that each plant can produce. Renewable energy plants have much higher costs to plan, build, and maintain, and the use of renewable energy is not worth the high cost that it entails.

  • We should preserve energy for the future.

    If we all switch to renewable energy we can preserve precious oils to make plastic. The government want to try to get 15% of the national grid powered by renewable energy, they also want to cut the country's carbon emissions by 34% by 2020. If we all switch to renewable energy we can achieve this goal.

  • Renewable energy has it's faults

    Renewable energy still has its faults and we shouldn't use it until it has been made COMPLETELY safe and efficient. Solar panels may not produce enough light during the night because there wasn't enough sun during the day. And don't get me started on wind turbines! They make people living close-by ill, they are ugly and I could go on and on...
    AND renewable energy is expensive, too!! We should wait until it's satisfactory instead of rushing into things! We will end up doing more harm than good!

    Nuclear isn't renewable but also only produces water. It's sustainable like renewable but fossil fuels are extremely bad. Honestly, it should just be nuclear and sustainable.     Because the sun is always shining, the wind is always blowing, and the sea is always wavy. There will always be sunlight during the day even if it's cloudy, rivers and currents will never stop flowing, and yes... You guessed it, the wind, as well, is also always blowing, otherwise we wouldn't have something we call weather. First commenter... Your argument is invalid.
    P.S. Explain to me how renewable energy is ugly, yet millions of pounds of fossil fuels ripped from the Earth and let loose as black smoke into the sky... Which might i add also kills birds, is pretty and adorable.

  • Corporate greed denies the benefits (economically)

    Not only does renewable energy save us from disastrous carbon emissions (obviously), but it will pay off immensely in the long run. Non-renewable energy is dirty, expensive, and costs the government even more money when accidents happen which involve very HEFTY clean-up costs that they don't want you to know about. Corporations are making way too much money initially whereas renewable energy has benefits in the long run. This is the truth...

  • Why shouldn't we build a better future?

    Oil is a limited supply that will eventually run out. I don't want my children to grow up in a resource war. We are already dependent on foreign countries for oil. We do not have to get rid of oil completely but we can build more sources of clean energy and a better future for the next generation.

  • Using fossil fuels is harming the earth more and more.

    Yes, i believe the statement 'sun doesnt always shine...' is correct however, if you think it about then, once the fossil fuels reach to an end, there will be no option BUT to use renewable energy. Why dont we just start use of renewable energy so that fossil fuels can last longer.

    Why would anyone be against something that could save the planet and the human race? If we do not have an alternate fuel for when the fossil fuels run out, then its game over. We cannot survive without power, we need it to live it powers everything we use. What would we use to grow food, to get us to work, out to holidays if we had no power.

    End of the day. Nothing is going to change in our lifetime because of the amount of money involved in non-renewable energy resources. I did an environmental engineering degree at uni (wanting to save the world and all). When there I found out that the whole world could get powered by only 1% of the australian dessert filled with solar panels!. However I also was told that the whole world could become sustainable quite easily. Not just with solar panels , but with wind, water, biogass etc. All it would cost is the amount the US spend on the military in 1 year to suss the whole world out!!!! It is an easy goal. However this will never happen because life is full of very money hungry people. Why would they give up millions for such simple and easy options? I'm now working as a chemical engineer at an oil and gas company. We pretty much got told in our last year of uni that sustainability is an easy option, however the greed of the world will never let it happen. Its all about the money guys!!! Not good ey? :(
