  • Social networking sites are also beneficial for educational porposes

Social networking sites not only help us to keep contacts with our friends but also it helps in sharing many meaningful things that are necessary for our academics. With my personal experience I will add that when I was in college we had many groups in Facebook and whats app whose admin was our teachers. So, they used to post important notes, assignments through that group. And it also helped us to collect notes even if we miss any class from our friends. So its a very good environment if used wisely and thoughtfully.

  • Yes, if used wisely.

Social networking sites benefit the world because they allow people access to those they may have lost touch with or to a wider set of ideas than they may have been exposed to. However, they are not really benefiting the world as they are being used now because they are becoming an addiction for many.

  • I think social networking sites are generally beneficial to our world.

I think social networking sites are generally beneficial to our world. They provide a lot of good things like being able to keep in contact with old friends, schedule events, or share things that are meaningful to you. This being said, there is also quite a bit of bad stuff on social networking sites too. For example, those mindless little games that try and say they are "free" but can end up costing people a small fortune.

  • Social Networks Affect Social Change

Social networks have affected social change several times in recent years. Iran, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt and Syria have all seen dramatic events unfold with social media leading the way when news blackouts were implemented. Social media allows news to spread fast and people stay in touch with their loved ones and with their favorite celebrities.

  • Yes, social networking sites are beneficial.

Social Networking sites have brought different parts of the world together. The networking sites allow people in different parts of the world to interact with each other on a consistent basis. This is why I believe that social networking sites have generally become beneficial to us and other people all around the world.

  • They have changed the media and news

Social networking sites have changed the way that the media and news organisations share the latest updates, news and information. For example, a train company can now share issues on their line easily and instantly. And now news organisations and journalists can share the latest news headlines easily through Twitter and Facebook etc... Surely that's good and beneficial to our world!

  • Social networks allow us to understand different cultures and people.

Social networks allow us to interact with and meet people from places we normally would not. We are able to learn about and understand different people and cultures in a way we may not be able to otherwise. This creates an environment of understanding and can contribute to more peaceful relations with the world.

  • Not how they're used

Social networking sites could be beneficial in organizing events and getting people interested in the same causes in touch with each other, it has the ptential to be a phenomenally useful tool. In reality it's people we know that are 30 years old, can't spell and still brag about getting drunk every "Sunday funday," The potential benefits are great, but we have too many idiots using it as their soapbox for a message nobody should care about.

  • Social networking sites are not generally beneficial to our world.

Social networking sites are bad for society because they encourage people to be isolated. Social networks claim that people have friends, but really a friend on the Internet could be a complete stranger. Also, social networks can be used by sexual predators to find victims from all over the world.

  • No, they are purely for entertainment

Social networking is simply an online forum for advertising and superficial relationships. There is a small value of keeping in touch with friends that live a long way from you, but far more often there are cases of cyber bullying and drama associated with online interactions. I cannot think of any loss if social networking disappeared tomorrow.

  • Social networking in itself is inevitable.

This is a really dumb question because the answer is obviously yes and there is virtually no way to argue no. Social networking in itself is a necessity to the human race. Social networking sites is just a natural progression as a result of the dot com age. A good debate question would allow valid arguments to both sides of the issue.
