No, we have not done enough to protect children. While this is a major bust and I'm thankful to the FBI and the other agencies who cracked down on these criminals who prey on children, it reveals a huge problem. Agencies are doing a good job but so much more needs to be done to protect youth from these awful predators.
There was a scientific study done a while ago by some notable psychologists about the success rate of rehabilitating pedophiles. They basically all came to the consensus that pedophiles couldn't be rehabilitated. They basically all came to the consensus that pedophiles couldn't be rehabilitated. They said it would be like trying to rehabilitate a homosexual into a heterosexual and vice versa. Simply put its not going to happen. I'll look around for the article and link it. Do you see these types of offenders as being able to be rehabilitated or do you think that they for the most part go back out and do the same stuff if given the chance?
There is certianly such a thing as being overprotective, but it is clear that way too many children are kidnapped and murdered every year. Of course in one sense there is no acceptable number of children that can be murdered or kidnapped, but it is also possible to become overprotective.
No, we have not done enough to protect children because they go missing everyday whether we hear about it or not. Children need people to stand up for them since they would be unable to survive without adults. We need to do more to make sure that rescue missions like this don't have to happen.
