Florida state will not win the NCAA basketball championship this year. There are too many other teams that are far better than none that stand a better chance of winning. Duke is one of those teams. While it is too early to say what team will or will not win, clearly, Florida State is not so elite that it will win the championship.
Just because they won one single game against a fairly decent opponent doesn't mean they have what it takes to be the champions. This type of thing happens all the time. When you play roughly 30 games a season, you are bound to lose one or two to a lower ranked team. It means nothing in the grand scheme of things.
The Seminoles lack the depth and firepower of title contenders North Carolina, Kansas, Kentucky, UCLA, Gonzaga and, believe it or not, Duke. While you cannot argue that Florida State has played great ball thus far - moving into the Top 10 of the Associated Press and Coaches Top 25 - only one team will cut down the nets in early April; I wouldn't bank on it being the Seminoles.
It's way too early in the season to assume that Florida State will win the NCAA title this year, because they beat Duke once. There are always teams that play for the post-season and Duke is one of those teams. They have a strategy to peak at the right time and this will help them when it ultimately comes down to the playoffs.
