The shooting at Ft. Lauderdale raises some questions. Should guns be allowed in checked luggage?

  • Yes, because self defense is needed.

Criminals are not going to listen to laws. Taking away guns takes away our ability to defend ourselves if someone does begin shooting- whether it's against the law or not. Sadly you cannot trust people to follow laws- it'll happen. Criminal are criminals, they do not follow laws, and you can't make them.

  • We need stricter gun laws

People who travel should do so without their weapons, as their rights under the 2nd amendment do not usurp everyone else's basic rights of health and safety. Security can't be everywhere, and we shouldn't have to worry that if someone opens their bag they might be grabbing for a weapon.

  • No, that causes more safety risks

Allowing guns in checked luggage might allow thieves or disgrunted airport staff unsafe access to weapons. The safest thing to do is improve security and make sure armed guards are watching everyone carefully. We should rely on people who are trained to handle fire arms and intervene in emergencies rather than having random airline passengers bring their guns with them.

  • No, guns should not be allowed in checked lugguage.

The logic of allowing someone to carry ammunition in his carry on luggage and a gun in checked luggage, then be able to retrieve both at baggage claim, is ludicrous. It makes no sense. Guns should be banned in airports just as they are on airplanes. The difference in policies in mindboggling.

  • Guns shouldn't be in airports

Guns should not be allowed in airports, or in any place where large masses of people are gathered. This poses a significant threat to the life and safety of all around. We need tougher laws, laws that make it harder for people to commit crimes such as this, so that less innocent lives are lost.
