There is outrage after a judge tells a rape victim that "pain and sex go together." Should this judge be recalled?

  • This Judge Does Need to be Recalled

This is a terribly inappropriate thing to say to a rape victim, it blames the victim and excuses the rapist's behavior. It sets back a lot of progress as far as prosecuting and punishing rapists. This judge has no business presiding over cases like this and needs a education on what rape does to victims.

  • Yes, this judge should be recalled.

Yes, this judge should be recalled because he clearly has no understanding of the difference between rape and sex. He also should not blame the victim. Victim blaming is the reason a lot of people do not speak out and why a lot of criminals go free, leading to more assaults.

  • Yes, this judge should be recalled.

The judge who showed such insensitivity to a rape victim should be recalled. He has no place in our judicial system. His ignorant comments showed a disregard for victims of sexual violence. Furthermore, these comments illustrate that he is not qualified to serve on the bench. There should be a way to recall judges that are unfit to serve.

  • A judge's insensitivity should not be a cause for recall

A judge's insensitivity should not be a cause for recall. While he told a rape victim that "pain and sex go together," which is clearly wrong and insensitive, it should not be grounds for a recall. This should only be reserved for the worst behavior, otherwise it sets a dangerous precedent where judges will be afraid to give rulings.
