Two teen girls were arrested after a 62-year-old man was attacked in a Facebook video. Does social media makes us less safe?

  • People have no sense.

Yes, social media has made us a lot less safe. People do not use common sense when posting things. I've seen people posting exactly when they are leaving and coming back from vacation, where their children are and go to school, and so much other potentially dangerous information, and they just don't seem to care.

  • No, social media does not make us less safe.

No, social media does not make us less safe, as long as we use it properly. Social media can actually help children alert their parents to where they are. It can also help police track people's phones if they have been stolen. In a way, it could help prevent many future crimes.

  • I don't believe social media makes us less safe.

While social media has its cons and in some scarce instances enabled crimes to be committed, I feel over-all it has contributed in making society more safe and aware of issues. While this attack of a 62 year old man is deplorable, the fact that it was videotaped and published to Facebook allows the crime to be prosecuted with strong video evidence, something that is seldom available.

  • No it does not

Two teen girls were arrested after a 62-year-old man was attacked in a Facebook video. Social media does not make us less safe, but it does lead us to share more. Sharing can be dangerous, but times are changing, and our methods to communicate are changing also. Social media should be used wisely.
