US offshore oil drilling: Is it wrong to give states the right to decide?

  • An excuse to drill

The position that some among the pro oil industry have been saying, the right of states to decide for themselves, is just an attempt to make a favorable policy toward states like Alaska and Florida, while these very same people appeal to the federal government to crush other states attempts to reign in on such destructive behavior.

  • States have rights.

All states should have the right to decide whether or not that they want oil rigs off their coasts. This is because there are different states that rely on their beaches for tourism and income and if there is an oil rig that tampers with that either making a beach inaccessible or ruining the scenery than the state should be able to decide if the want the benefits of the oil rig with the implications it might have on there other revenues.
