Vacation spending: If people are spending more money on vacation, does this indicate an improving economy?

  • Yes, it does.

When people feel secure in their jobs and with the amount of money in their savings accounts then they feel like they can spend some of it on a vacation. This shows that the economy is improving is people once again have disposable income. I think this will continue to improve over the next two years.

  • Spending more money on vacation indicates an improving economy.

Spending more money on vacation indicates an improving economy. This is because people barely had enough money before to pay their bills and put food in their mouths. When people are now able to think about leisure time it means they are doing better. When a whole division of the economy, like tourism picks up, it means we are all doing somewhat better.

  • Please Stop Kidding Yourself

This economy is not fixed because too much money is locked up in too few hands. Raise minimum wage and force the corporations to pay a living wage and then you might see a healthy economy. Too many people are in poverty to solve this problem and absolutely nothing is being done to change it.

  • No, it just means they have the money to spend.

No, when people spend more money on vacation that just means they have the funds to do so. People go on vacation because they have the cash. One person's spending does not mean that things are getting better. Vacation spending is not an indicator of an improving economy. People spending more money everywhere is the best indicator of an improving economy.
