    I'll not give statistics here, they're easy enough to find. I just want to give a glimpse of the "boots on the ground" perspective. Take from this what you will.
    The VA health care system is beyond redemption. Nothing can fix a culture of obtuseness. Throw all the time, attention, and money there is at it and it will not change the culture ingrained in the system.
    As a patient entering into the system it can take over a year to see a doctor. As a patient already in the system, an appointment with your doctor can take up to six months. As a patient there is no avenue to redress problems in the system.
    Call and ask for an appointment with a mental health professional...
    "Why?"
    Absolutely stunning...
    Two tours of duty in a combat zone and the response is...
    "Why?"
    In a perfect world, or even a world ever so slightly better than the one we live in, the response would be...
    "Yes sir."
    Look up the statistics yourself and think how many of those cold numbers asked for help and the response from the VA was...
    "Why?"
