Religious and spiritual beliefs have always been a cause of tension between people, but using any type of abuse be it mental or physical is just wrong. Having said that, it must be understood that not everyone has the same beliefs. If restaurants are told to stop serving alcohol during certain religious times, that is showing major disrespect for the others that do not follow Ramadan.
I am not in support of restaurants refraining from serving alcoholic beverages during Ramadan. It is certainly the choice of the diner if he chooses to patronize a restaurant that serves alcohol and furthermore his choice not to order an alcoholic beverage if he does choose to dine in one.
Restaurants should have the right right to serve alcohol during Ramadan. A waitress was attacked by Muslim men for doing so, but these people should be punished. We need to respect other. If your religious beliefs conflict with a common practice, you are able to avoid alcoholic consumption, or even stop frequenting the restaurant during this period.
There is no way on earth that all restaurants should not stop serving alcohol during Ramadan. What is wrong with people who celebrate the day simply not consuming alcohol at the restaurant; or just don't go to the establishment. There is no reason the entire world needs to change just because of one religion.
