Was anti-immigrant sentiment a large part of the movement for Prohibition?

  • Would Not Suprise Me None

That is how we punish people we do not like and actions we do not like. We blame people who are no more of a problem than anyone else. In order to get people out of our country, we say they are being a bad influence on the rest of society. The problem usually is we are really the bad influences on them.

  • Was anti-immigrant large?

Yes, it seems so. There were a lot of Irish and Polish immigrants at the time of prohibition, and there was sentiment in opposition to these two countries at that time, so it makes sense. If there wasn't so much immigration to the United States prohibition probably never would have happened at all. Shows the ignorance of the time.

  • Anti Immigrant Sentiment

I personally think that the anti immigrant sentiment played a large part of the movement for Prohibition because it was a place were their people would hide as well a place were they wanted to be by themselves. I personally think that the anti immigrant sentiment has affected so many people as well as their families that had to deal with the situation.

  • All about alcohol

No, the prohibition did not have anything to do with hatred over immigrants. This only occurred because the government felt like the nation would be better off without the sale and use of alcohol. The country felt differently though, and the sale of alcohol continued in illegal types of ways.
