  • All together, yes

Unfair rules, rights, and behaviors against people happens often in our world. However, the holocaust was the world's most largely populated organized KILLING (to my knowledge). Despite the fact that it did not last long, compared to other events like slavery, the number of people who were killed was huge. No other event has had such an enormous organized death toll, of a certain group of people before.

  • Yes I think it was...

It's definitely someone's personally opinion but I definitely think this was the worst. I'm not an expert on all the genocides in history but I have never heard one quite like the Holocaust. Not only were Jews killed but others that were considered "different" than your average German. It wasn't like all of them were automatically killed off either. They were tortured, experimented on, and were given a slow death. They would cut people up for experiments and torture one twin to see if it hurt the other. They were put in small rooms so crowded that they couldn't move and had to use the restroom right where they stood. They were taken to take a shower but eventually realize they were put in gas chambers instead. The holocaust was brutal and the torture that they were put through just doesn't compare in my opinion.

  • It definitely is!

Yes, a crime is a crime, period! Many other terrible genocides have happened in human history, eg: Slave trade, Pol Pot, Indian Partition, Racial segregation, Genocide in Rwanda etc, all of which were extremely brutal and un-human. YET, looking at the end result, more people were killed than ever! It was gruesome, illogical and HUGE! Biggest crime in human history!

  • Yes, it is...

The German Nazis did not just kill one type of people. They also killed all Gypsies, Disabled people, Homo-sexuals AND JEWS. So they did not just stick to killing one race and rather killed their own as well. People knew about what they were doing and didn't stop them, wheras other genocides were stopped while it was still taking place. It was too late when people found out because so many had already died...

  • Of course it is.

Because who would ever do this to people. It was such a horrific crime to put such innocent people through. They never did anything wrong, they can't help that they are Jewish, its who they are. It would be so painful to go through what they went through. It is just not right

  • Yes it is!

I think it was the worst genocide because many people, especially the Jews, were killed for no particular reason. People had to hide undergrounds to survive. But also I think it wasn't the worst becuase the African Genocide was pretty bad too. Africans were just killed as they walked down the street.

  • Yes, but not by numbers.

I think that the way in which the Holocaust was carried out, the way the rest of the world turned a blind eye for so long, and the number of different groups that were targeted makes it one of the (if not THE) worst genocide in history. It wasn't just Jewish people; it was Romani, homosexuals, atheists, handicapped persons, and anyone else who didn't fit with Hitler's view of the perfect race. While the total number of people killed might be lower than other examples of genocide, the situation itself makes the Holocaust the worst.

  • Yes, But You Can't Compare On This Subject

All genocides are evil blights on the history book. It sort of does an injustice to compare between the ones in Rwanda, Armenia, Europe, or in America historically with the Native Americans. However, the Jewish genocide is the worst in terms of how intricately it was organized and executed by German fascists.

  • Holocaust is the worst

The Holocaust is more statistic because the way jews were killed and treated. The Holocaust was a very large and horrific genocide. It was responsible for the untimely deaths of about 11 million individuals.People knew about what they were doing not U.S. and didn't stop them, other genocides were stopped while it was still taking place. This shows that the Holocaust is more statistic.

  • It's a tricky word.

What's worse, 8,000,000 over a few years or 100,000,000 over centuries? You can't compare deaths; there's no "worst." If we're sticking to an organized, directed act of mass murder, though, I suppose the Holocaust is the biggest.

These are the extra words required to meet the requirement. Hi there, guys.

  • Joseph Stalin and the USSR's totalitarian regimes.

The Holocaust was a very large and horrific genocide. The first to ever have been operated at an industrial scale, but it was not the biggest. It was responsible for the untimely deaths of about 11 million individuals, whereas Stalin alone killed upwards of 14 million. Higher estimates put the total number of genocidal deaths that the USSR is responsible for at about 80 million individuals.

  • The Holodomor was much worse

Way more people were killed and their death was much more painful. They were starved and worked to death rather than atletas having the chance to die quickly by gas. In conclusion, the Holodomor was worse because of how many people were killed and how those people were killed. End of story

  • European crimes against natives

The europeans killed faaaaaar more native american, native asians, and native africans than any estimable number during the Holocaust, and even using similar methods such as concentration camps.
The Holocaust was a terrible thing, but even communism killed more people (including the USSR during WW2 too), and all those are much lesser known genocides.

  • Stalin and the Nazis

The systematic forced collectivities and government imposed famines that lead to such horrors like cannibalism in Ukraine, massive deaths in Kazakhstan, and dozens of other atrocities in Soviet republics was so severe and intense it has never been rivaled. Many Eastern European countries said life under the Nazis was hard, but life under to Soviets was unbearable. Unlike Nazis where certain groups were targeted such as Jews, Homosexuals, and Romi people, In the USSR millions of people were victims of mass killings or forced deaths regardless of religion, ethnic background, or economic status. You could argue that Stalin was not as selective as the Nazis, simply to achieve a certain end, where as the Nazis used the Jews for a very specific ideological purpose and tool for propaganda. Nevertheless, the toll of human suffering caused by Stain's "terror" was truly unmatched in human history, and God willing will never be repeated.

  • Worse genocides have occurred both before and after WWII..

Stalin and Mao Zedong have been responsible for hundreds of millions of deaths between them in their respective countries during their rules and if you go further back through European history you will also see what was done to the native populations of the America's by colonists, from mass displacement and the deliberate spread of smallpox, war, massacre and other events that have lead to the near destruction of Native culture/identity and a decimation of their population that they have never really recovered from (many estimates are as high as 100 million deaths). I would point also to the attempts at genocide against the Palestinian people by the Israeli's....Most people of the world are so used to perceiving the Jewish people as victims of the Nazi attempt at genocide that they are more than happy to believe the propaganda coming from Israeli and American politicians about the situation in The West Bank and The Gaza strip! The perpetual victimhood bestowed upon the Jewish people by the Western world seems to make them immune to unbiased scrutiny and/or consequences for their monstrous actions since first attempting to create a Jewish State....How many people actually know about the number of Palestinian corpses the State of Israel is built upon or how many innocent, civilian Palestinian lives have been lost to war crimes and criminal breaches of Palestinian human rights by the Israeli's? America is guilty also by extension as they have covered up and supported Israels actions against the Palestinian people for far too long! I think as well the "Silent Holocaust" against the Mayan population of Guatemala that lasted for over 30 years was atrocious as well! Although the death toll wasn't as high as many other events of this nature, the length of time that these poor people had to endure arrests, murder, torture etc is simply horrifying by any decent standard!

  • Many Communist regimes killed far more than the Nazis, and in equally gruesome and cruel ways.

Communist regimes, particularly those under Joseph Stalin and Mao Zedong were actually worse than that of the Nazis, logistically speaking at the very least.

    By the numbers:

Nazi holocaust death toll: approximately 15 million total victims.

Stalin (Soviet Russia) regime death toll: approximately 20 million total victims.

Mao Zedong (Communist China) regime death toll: approximately 40 million total victims.

The methods of killing between these 3 regimes is very similar. With the Nazis there were concentration camps and gas chambers. In Stalin's Soviet Russia, Gulags and Mass starvation was used. In Mao Zedong's communist China, most victims were worked to death, starved, or beaten to death in "The Great Leap Forward".

The Nazis and Communists are morally equivalent, and their killing techniques were very similar. The Holocaust wasn't really the worst genocide to have happened to date (though I am not down playing the fact that it was terrible).

  • European Colonization of the Americas

A view that is heavily disputed. Some historians consider the deaths caused by disease, displacement, and conquest of Native American populations during European settlement of North and South America as committing an act of genocide or series of genocide's. The alleged genocidal aspects of this event are entwined with loss of life caused by the lack of immunity of Native Americans to diseases carried by European settlers. Some estimates indicate that some 80–90% died in Native American populations during smallpox epidemics. It was well known that clothing and blankets known to be infected were given to the native peoples in a attempt to eliminate them. This shows that colonists knew of the weakness the peoples had to disease. It is uncertain to tell just how many Indigenous Americans died as a result of the European colonization of the Americas but some estimates claim it to be up to 100,000,000 people in the largest genocide the world has ever seen.

  • Although im not against socialists, communists, or Jews, communism killed lots.

Mao Zedong: Killed 20,000,000-60,000,000 people in China
Joesoph Stalin: Killed 20,000,000-60,000,000 people in Soviet union
Pol pot: Killed 1,000,000-3,000,000 people in Cambodia
    Ethiopia: Killed 1,700,000 people
    North Korea: Killed 2,000,000 people
    Afghanistan: Killed 1,500,000 people
    Eastern Bloc: Killed 1,000,000 people
    Vietnam: Killed 1,000,000 people
    Latin America: Killed 150,000 people

Total deaths: 50,000,000-100,000,000 people. However, some estimates put the amount of deaths caused by Stalin and Mao to be much higher, making the total deaths almost 200,000,000.

The wiping out of native americans was bad, but it is not actually known how many died. It could be only a few million. Most of the desths were caused by small pox being spread mostly unintentionally. But the persecution, enslavement, and several series of massacres and deportations would have resulted in 100,000,000 deaths.

So really, its a fight between communism and the native amercian genocide. Although the holocaust was evil, it didnt kill as much people as it was the most terrifying.

  • Hindus and Sikhs had it the worst

80 million+ Hindus were killed and raped by the Muslims. Muhammad bin Qasim-> Mahmoud of Ghazni-> Mohhamed Ghori-> Qutb ud-din Aibak-> Timur-> Babur-> Akbar-> Aurangzeb. I left out Humayun, Jahangir, and Shah Jahan because they were inable. Not to mention the 1.5 billion Indians massacres during the British Raj and the extra 2 million Hindus and Sikhs killed during partition. A British historian who was also a soldier said that the Muslims cut off the breasts of pregnant woke and hacked the babies out of their bellies. He also says that the genocides were worse than the Nazi death camps. And the worse part is, the Muslims are still killing the Hindus in India. There are hardly any Hindus left in Kashmir because the Muslims have killed most of them. There are Hindus and Sikhs that have killed innocent Muslims in India but a lot more Hindus and Sikhs are STILL being killed by the Muslims in their own country. I don't wish any violence on any race or people that follow a crazy ideology but if they destroy your way of life, you need to fight back. This is all the idiot Gandhi's fault.
