We are destroying rainforests so quickly they may be gone in 100 years. Should we be paying more attention to this issue?

  • Yes, the rainforests are irreplaceable

The rain forests of the Amazon supply much of the world's fresh air and are responsible for much of the world's climates. Even though they mostly fall within the country of Brazil, this is a global issue that demands a global solution and no individual nation should be allowed to have carte blanche control over a resource that affects so much of the world. The rain forests cannot be replaced once they are gone and we are already beginning to see the effects of climate change, so any further encroachment must be stopped at all costs.

  • The rainforest situation should be a top priority.

We should absolutely be paying more attention to this issue. Not only paying attention but actually doing something about it. So many environmental issues depend on the rainforest, from wildlife to air quality. It is one of the largest ecosystems on the planet and if it is destroyed, it will have a huge impact on the rest of the world.

  • It is never too early.

It's important to start early when we think about how to save the rain forests, because we wouldn't want it to be too late. When you plan early, you have more time to enact necessary laws to save the rain forests. You have more time to think about the issue and make wise decisions.

  • Yes, this is important.

The rate at which we are destroying rainforests is a very troubling issue that we should be paying attention to. However, we have many pressing issues that appear to be equally or more important, so we will probably put off trying to save rainforests until it is already too late.
