Were the journalists covering Sochi right to highlight problems in the city's infrastructure?

  • The journalists covering Sochi were right to highlight problems in the city's infrastructure.

The journalists covering Sochi were right to highlight problems in the city's infrastructure. The problems with the infrastructure of Sochi were highly educational to Americans. Although it makes the city of Sochi look bad, it is an honest look into the conditions in different part of the world. People are more likely to have an impression of what to expect if they traveled to Sochi.

  • Yes, it was a awful place

Its not just the media that reported it, it was the athletes as well. The times have changed and not only can the average person push their words on the public, but they can do it on a mass scale. It is very clear that the place was the worst idea for the Olympics, and it shows.

  • Sochi's infrastructure is a concern.

If Russia is the great powerhouse of a nation that it claims to be, then it should have been able to put these things in place. The games were not a surprise. They have been scheduled for Sochi for a decade. If Russia had its priorities in line with hosting the games, they would have addressed all of the issues prior to the arrival of the games. The journalists were right to point out what is obviously a problem that may impact performance.

  • The journalists covering Sochi did not have the right to highlight the city's infrastructure issues

It is my opinion that the journalists that covered the Sochi Olympics did not have the right to highlight the problems facing the city's infrastructure. Highlighting the issues with the city's infrastructure is not what they are there to do, and they should only cover the topics to which they have been assigned.
