Were the Patriots responsible for the Boston Massacre?

  • Colonists were hurting British

The Colonists were hitting soldiers with clubs and throwing rocks, shells, and snow at the British. The Colonists were also name calling the British and saying things like, "I dare you to shoot me," or "Ha! You know you can't do anything." There was a whole mob of Colonists and only 8 soldiers. The British got scared and acted in self defense. However, it is still not right to shoot and kill people, even in this circumstance.

  • The British felt threatened

There was only 8 British soldiers present at the "massacre" and they were completely surrounded by a rowdy crowd of colonists/ patriots. The crowd had balls of ice, sticks, and clubs and were threatening to do bodily harm to the British. Feeling threatened the British fired their weapons as an act of self defense.

  • The colonist British And a person who yelled fire to fire The Guns started this All.

The Colonist's Made The British very Angry By Not Buying Their Goods, Then They Covered Them In Hot Ta, Threw Feathers At Them ,Glue At Them They Even Did These 2 Thing They shoved hot tea down their throats Even Hung People. Then They Killed 5 Innocent American Colonist's Thanks To The Guy Who Had Said "FIRE".

  • The British Exaggerated the Situation

During the evening of March 5th, 1770, 8 British soldiers were going into Boston while a group of Colonist angry at the soldiers being there threw rocks, snowballs, sticks and unkind words. As a way to want to get out of the situation, the Captain gave the order to fire. That is only some of the events during the Patriots view. The British view is more violent and dangerous when it came to the colonist. This is where one of the colonist picked a stick of the ground and hit the captain in the helmet, almost killing him. This I would say is an exaggeration (and if I was on the Yes side, but I'm not) the soldier that saw this probably yelled fire out of fear.

    I rest my case

  • The British Were scared

The Boston Massacre happened because of throwing snowballs and unkind words. Anyways, one of officers said the captain was almost knocked out by a stick! A stick! Anyways, the British shot muskets at unarmed innocent colonist and killed 5. Now call that an accident! The snowballs had no way of harming the soldiers. The sticks and rocks could have been hard to find in the middle of winter since there is only snow. Plus, the colonist have the right to through that stuff! Its not as bad as being tarred!

  • The British Parliament Started This

British started this by taxing colonists without representation. This was all their fault. The patriots tried to convince them with words but now it has been seen that there is nothing else more than war that is needed. British deserved what was coming for them. They started it with the Quartering Act.
