  • A pro of social media is that it facilitates a truly global community.

A definite pro of social media is that it facilitates a community that is truly global in nature. Through social media, it is possible to access all parts of the globe within seconds. This positively impacts world business, social relations and economies. It also makes it possible for those who are unable to travel to explore other cultures.

  • Social media isn't perfect

Social media is a great way to connect with family, friends and those who have similar interests as you. When used wisely and for its intended purpose, social media is a great tool for all who use it. When used for negative purposes, social media helps open the door to actions like bullying and harassment.

  • Social media is a waste of time

Social media is a waste of time, you could be spending your precious time doing something else rather than just starring a digital screen and waiting for an acronyms as a reply! It would make more sense if you talked to them than texting, it takes a while for the person to text and EVEN LONGER for the message to send, then your brain translating it, into words that make sense. However, talking has a more simpler process.

  • Cons of social media are lack of privacy and easy slander.

Social media allows people to easily slander others by writing threatening messages or rumors on people's Facebook walls, Twitter pages and the like. Since a person is not physically confronting another, they can cyber-attack them without fear of a physical response from the other party. In addition, social media creates lack of privacy, because any pictures taken in virtually any context can be uploaded to the public domain without another person's consent.

  • There are some compelling cons of social media.

While social media provides entertainment for many, as well as some conveniences, there is also a downside to the social media phenomenon. Through popular social media services, a good deal of interaction is boiled down and simplified to a series of Likes, Re-tweets and endless running jokes or memes. Some users have surely begun to use social media to replace part or all of their actual, in-person social interaction. Humans are social animals, and social media is not an adequate replacement for actual interaction.
