Which state is most justified for their actions: Israel (Yes) or Palestine (No)?

Asked by: Orangatang
  • I believe that Israel is.

It was already written that the land belonged to the Jews many years ago. The Arabs disregarded that fact and just settled there. True, the Jews did leave that land, but one must realize that the land would still be theirs regardless. Furthermore, the Jews were oppressed by the ancient Romans and were crushed by them around 70 A.D, which prompted them to scatter all over the world.

  • Both Israel and Palestine have made drastic and controversial actions against each other but who is most justified?

Perhaps one state may be more justified than the other regarding certain cases but I believe that Israel actions are most justified in general. Israel seems to try to avoid any and all conflicts in general and will only take action when necessary and in their defense. I will be the first to admit that I may have a bias because I am part Israeli but this is why I am holding this opinion poll. I would like to learn more about the truth of these conflicts and only logically sound arguments and evidence will convince me.

  • Israel, not Palestine

Hamas is a terrorist organization, and it seeks to kill Israelis. They use their own hospitals, schools, and children as cannon fodder for the Israelis in order to gain sympathy for their cause. Nonetheless, Israel needs to protect its own citizens so they do what they must- a necessary evil.

  • Hamas - human shields vs. Iron dome and democracy

Hamas is a terrorist organization that uses human shield. Israel retaliates to missiles being launched at them and never initiates the first attack. You want less dead Palestinians? Teach your kids to stop throwing stones at IDF soldiers, get yourself an iron dome system, stop using children as human shields and then cry about how they're dying, and stop attacking because Israel will defend itself. Israel has never committed a war crime against international law and is the only democracy in the middle east.

  • Hamas? Humans Shields? Please tell me again how evil Israel is.

The ruling group over the Palestinian government is literally a terrorist organization. Israel only retaliates to rockets being launched at them after Hamas targets Israel itself. Furthermore, IDF soldiers notify residents within the area they plan on launching rockets towards (as a retaliation tactic) through many means and long before they plan the attack itself. Can the same be said in reverse on behalf of "Palestine"? Beyond that, Israel doesn't approve of the use of human shields unlike Hamas. If giving up land was the solution to the middle east conflict then back in 2005 when Israel forced thousands of Israeli citizens out of Gaza and gave up the land to allow Palestinians to live in, would have resolved the entire conflict. By no means is Israel perfect, without a doubt there are flaws, however Israel is the only democracy in the middle east and the country has never committed a war crime against international law.

  • Israel is defending itself.

If Mexico was firing rockets into the United States, do you think people would be happy if we just stood back and let them? No, people would demand that we would fight back and defend ourselves. Why then, should Israel just allow the Hamas to do as they please? I do not understand the overwhelming amount of people who think Israel is in the wrong.

  • Palestine is not a "state"

Default answer is Israel, because the "state" of Palestine does not exist. There's not much more to say other than this, the question simply is not framed properly.

I'm sure people can point to actions by Israel they find disagreeable, and actions done by Palestinians that are disagreeable, but that's comparing a barrel of apples to, well, apples without a barrel.

  • Israel is hated for being Israel

No other country has been so universally hated and attacked since it's earliest days as Israel. Just ask yourself how Israel would respond to the Arab world unilaterally committing to laying down its arms compared to Israel doing the same. If the Arab world put down its arms there would be peace the next day. If Israel put down its arms, the next day Israel would cease to exist.

  • I believe neither are

Neither Israel or Palestine are justified in their attacks on one another. However, Israel has a better claim to the land than Palestine does. Palestine was not a sovereign nation, not even an autonomous region. Palestine was under control of the British Empire; the British Empire, in conjunction with the United Nations, decided to create the Jewish state of Israel, shifting control of the land to the Israeli government.

  • Israeli violence against Palestinians cannot be justified.

The way Israelis vaporized Palestinian leaders is absoulutely deplorable. Regardless of whether the land belonged to Jews or not, the ruthless killing of innocent Palestinians does not have humane foundations.
In 1967, Israel was allocated 55% of the land in Palestine, however the occupied 80% of it. Then they illegally occupied the remaining 20%, against the UN resolutions. They are still illegally building settlements in the occupied territories and refuse to return them, which is, against the UN resolutions. They built a wall through the West Bank, violating World Court orders. They also starved civilians under occupation and they also used banned weapons, both actions against the International Law.

  • None is most Justified

Like I said None is Most Justified. Both states has killed innocents, Hamas and the Israeli Government. And both are like dictatroships in disguise as democracy. Remeber the hamas silenced a journilist, Israel puted censorships on the Ben case and Lied about the Crate Delivering Weapons. That's right both lie

  • Israel is a vile, violent interloper

Israel is an artificial nation, established by the United Nations as one of their worst moves. The land where Israel now resides was once Palestine, but now the Palestinians are reduced to wandering nomads, some in camps, and many others forced out of home and country, into places like Iran. Because of this vile displacement of these people from their land, to establish a new land for those who did not need another one, Palestinians and Iranians tend to foster grudges against Israel and the UN, very rightly. There is now no solution, for it would be no less unfair to now evict Israel just as Palestine was evicted to create Israel.

  • You would have to be blind and deaf to think otherwise

Look at the recent history of Israel's actions in Palestine, this is actually a joke of a "debate". Zionists are trying to carry out a prophecy regardless of how many they kill and they will use anything (including the purported Palestinian aggression) an excuse while they brutally destroy a group of people who did nothing to them in the first place- many who are their brothers. Even though Israel and the US like to distinguish them as "Arabs". The Palestinians actually welcomed Jews initially as refugees. Israel has carried out war crimes on almost all of its neighbours in recent times, you can learn a lot on wikipedia.

Now, just think about it- imagine you are a Palestinian. They've bombed and killed your closest relatives, they've done so for your entire life and your parents lives, they get more USA funding to continue, they steal your land, they don't allow you to import concrete to rebuild, they have millions of $ and weapons- you have nothing, they send armed soldiers into your home while you sleep to stand post, they commonly respond to protest with live ammunition and "mistakenly" kill children on a routine basis, they do their own investigations, they blockade international aid... ... ... They are just "defending themselves" and you for trying to fight back are a "terrorist".

And for all the people who say Palestine is not a state then most of the countries in the world were also not states when they were in run by others, i.E British control of Palestine- that's right Palestine does that mean you can bomb the shit out of them in locations like schools and UN posts? Steal their taxes when they threaten to seek justice in international criminal court? Not to mention Israel has demonstrated that they will defy the law by their annexation and military occupation of other surrounding country's land e.g. Golan Heights. In my opinion the Palestinians would of been justified to fight back decades and decades but they cannot due to the long brutal attack on them from all fronts. I am not Palestinian.

  • Israel is oppressive.

In the 1940's, Israel was created on land that was 100% Palestine. They have no right to be there. They took over and and begun a military regime that since has killed SO MANY PEOPLE. They should go back to Europe and let Palestine have peace. After all, the Palestinians are just trying to get their land back. That would be justice.

  • Israel is wrong.

Having been the holocaust victoms, the Israelis yet kill mass citizens of Palestine. No violence is justified; however, Palestine is more justifiable than Israel. Taking away Palestine lands and slowly suffocating them into smaller regions and eventually killing off all of them. The actions from Israel is never accepted. They learned only one thing from WW2. Do tbe same thing what the Nazis did.

  • I believe Palestine is.

Neither Israel or Palestine are justified for their actions. However, to pick, I would pick paelstine according to the question above. Palestine is surrounded by Israel, and it caused some problems to Palestine. Even though what Hamas (of Palestine) is doing is wrong, we cannot aoid what Israel has done, too. Israel had killed so much civillians in Palestine. The scene that people in Israel clapping for shooting Palestine citizens was really a caotic view. Also, they are still shooting in Gaza even they promised peace.

  • Israel has become a belligerent state.

Early in its existence, Israel acted out of pure interest in self-defense against the over-zealous Arab states that threatened its sovereignty, but recently it has changed foreign policy to reflect an American style first-strike doctrine. This is evident in the Israeli attacks against Saddam's Iraq and the bombings of military equipment in Syria. Palestine is enclosed by Israeli hegemony and has suffered numerous abuses by IDF forces. I'll admit, killing of innocent people by either side is deplorable, but the Palestinian desire for revenge is very understandable. Palestinians seek only one goal: their independence. Israel, however, seems to be a loose cannon set on a crash course to destabilize the entire region.

I'd be tempted, but what's the point? It's opinions.
Orangatang says2013-08-06T20:09:18
Perhaps, you have good arguments and can persuade someone in a setting where people care about the issue.
Eitan_Zohar says2013-08-06T20:48:40.690
No. Good arguments can be saved for a debate. I'm not interested in convincing people like this.
Orangatang says2013-08-06T20:52:04.403
Alright, that's fine.
