People seem to think that the civil war was about slavery when it wasn't. It was about state rights and a rebellion that had to be crushed for the sake of unification. Slavery was a side issue with the war but the war itself was fought by men who were drafted to protect the Government. Thank you and May God bless the USA.
The whole state's rights thing, that was the right of states to decide if people can own other people. Slavery is a BAD part of our history, not a part that we want to display. The fact that people think we should celebrate the fact that our ancestors owned slaves is disgusting.
The key argument that the American Civil War was about states rights and not slavery is, frankly, ridiculous. The Civil War as about state's rights, but what were they being used for? Pacifism? No. They were being used to by and sell in the human grocery store. That is unconstitutional, and wrong. That is not a side issue, it is the only issue.
I do find it sad that people would defend this unjust insurrection.
Thank you and good day,
