In an ideal world, the devices that connect us to the Internet and the connection method should be either very inexpensive or free of charge. Value added features to the devices and connections could provide revenues; but, by providing cheap devices you can create new profit avenues, new markets or grow existing ones. The lion's share of profit is made within the services and products offered on the Internet. Society as a whole, from the business world to daily life, would benefit from affordable access.
Low tablet prices will enable more people to have access to this technology and help improve it. Instead of cutting off a great number of customers due to the price we should strive to lower prices. This will help upcoming programmers as well as experienced programmers develop apps to improve the tablet's performance.
The cost of tablets and iPads are going to drop and help us all in the end. We are having more and more products available and the more product will lead to less demand and ultimately having prices go down to be a better draw in price. The 200 tablet is changing things in a good way.
Tablets are already changing the way some people do things but I don't think it will change the masses until two things happen. The first thing that will need to happen in a cut in cost, tablets will need to be affordable and available for less than $100. The second will be cheaper, more widely available Internet so people don't have to pay an additional bill to actually use the tablet.
