The establishment of the health insurance exchanges is a good thing because it gives consumers more choice.Previously companies were able to act as a type of monopoly where consumers paid a very high price. With the exchanges consumers will find it easier to shop around when new coverage is needed for the family.
It will take a few years for the Health Insurance Exchange to catch on and for companies to adjust to the new competition. Once that happens people will have easy and fair access to all of the services available to them. This will in turn breed competition. This competition will in turn benefit consumers due to decreased costs.
