With a financial crisis happening in the United States government right now, should we privatize NASA, allowing for research to continue without impacting the national budget? |
Considering the fact that we can't seem to provide for the inhabitants of this planet or take care of our Earth, looking for other planets to inhabit seems pointless. Spending billions of dollars annually on any program that has no immediate or tangible benefits to this country's citizens is wasteful and foolish, especially when we are so desperate for affordable housing, a comprehensive health care plan and a decent education for our children.
Handing NASA over to the private market would ensure the funding needed for such great endeavors. The current government need not be spending tax dollars that consumers are willing to pay directly for the services rendered through the exploration and research done by NASA.
China and Russia are taking over the US Space Program. There's no chance for the US now considering the economic problems.
For instance, instead of one recognized public organization (NASA) that is run by the government, you will have all of these different private organizations fighting to be the best, and in their fight for the greatest space exploration program, they are going to cheat and lie, and hide all sorts of things to get into space, and they are going to make their own protocols and their own rules. And instead of having one generally accepted rule book, your going to have billionaires getting into space just because they can.
