Considering the fact that we can't seem to provide for the inhabitants of this planet or take care of our Earth, looking for other planets to inhabit seems pointless. Spending billions of dollars annually on any program that has no immediate or tangible benefits to this country's citizens is wasteful and foolish, especially when we are so desperate for affordable housing, a comprehensive health care plan and a decent education for our children.
I firmly believe there's not enough attention being paid to the program in general.Everyone from politician to media outlets seem to always put Nasa related stories on the back burner.During the presedential debates i vaguely remember obama remarking "we have more pressing matters on earth to worry about"with kind of a snicker, when asked a question regarding Nasa.Sure we may have more obvious and critical concerns, but I personally feel some day in the not to distant future, we'll be in a position where we will look to Nasa for the answers. That's why it should have privatized funding with less limitations.
Handing NASA over to the private market would ensure the funding needed for such great endeavors. The current government need not be spending tax dollars that consumers are willing to pay directly for the services rendered through the exploration and research done by NASA.
China and Russia are taking over the US Space Program. There's no chance for the US now considering the economic problems.
For instance, instead of one recognized public organization (NASA) that is run by the government, you will have all of these different private organizations fighting to be the best, and in their fight for the greatest space exploration program, they are going to cheat and lie, and hide all sorts of things to get into space, and they are going to make their own protocols and their own rules. And instead of having one generally accepted rule book, your going to have billionaires getting into space just because they can.
NASA takes .48 percent of the National Budget.
If we are to save our pitiful country it is to cut our Military budget by half.
500 Billion dollars is spent on our military instead of the countries own people.
When will humanity learn that fighting leads to nothing but death? We must share our limited resources for the benefit of humanity. Not Privatize Space.
We have the technology to make useless soil into soil good for farming, we can cheaply purify water and speak to each other from across the globe in seconds.
Technology and the ability to work together is what makes humanity strong, not oil and machine guns. But rocket ships and Understanding!
