With Christians near Mosul celebrating their first mass since being liberated from Isis, is there hope that things are starting to get better in Iraq?

With Christians near Mosul celebrating their first mass since being liberated from Isis, is there hope that things are starting to get better in Iraq?
  • Yes, recent reports from inside Iraq indicate hope.

Recent reports are demonstrating that ISIS are increasingly and continuously losing ground. This has mainly come since the aerial bombings launched by the US and allied forces on key ISIS strongholds. ISIS have little recourse against aerial threats. Since these bombing campaigns ISIS gains have been minimal and there are increasing reports of ISIS members defecting from the group.

  • I agree that there is hope in Mosul for Christians.

While recent events in Mogul have show there is hope that things are improving in Iraq, there is still a long way to go before the country is fully restored. Isis may have retreated and their forces pushed back but there is a long fight ahead. A temporary occupation may be necessary before civilians can feel at peace.

  • Yes, We are Making Headway.

In the past few weeks, victories have been made in the fight against ISIS. While there is still a very long way to go, we are finally making headway in the fight. Iraqi forces are at the border of Mosul's city limits, where ISIL is currently holding up. Once this city is taken back, the fight will be almost over.

  • Things will continue to get better.

When I read the history of the Middle East, I am amazed that for years several religions managed to stay there together. Yes, there were conflicts, but there was also coexistence. When ISIS is completely defeated, I think those days of peaceful coexistence will return. People are tired of conflict and conflict really doesn't accomplish anything at all.

  • No. There is no hope at all as long as the US is involved.

Iraq is in a state of war since the American invasion in 2003. They wanted for Iraq to be in its current state, or at least all their actions while being there suggest so. For example, they dismanteled the Iraqi army and allowed a weak regime with a weak military to take control of the country. Ultimately that resulted in Iran being involved in Iraq to support the regime with racist iranian militias commiting crimes against Sunni civilians on a daily basis, but unfortunately the media is not covering it.

For these reasons the Sunni community gave birth to Isis and Isis-like orginisations, to defend thermselves. Isis is a result not a cause.

So if the western world is really concerned about bringing peace in the Middle East , they must retreat from the area, but they are not going to retreat, as a result the war in region will not come to an end, the Middle east will burn and its fire will consequently reach to western world and burn it too.
