With boys being viewed as more mathematically and scientifically apt or capable, women must fight to enter the arena of technology. To value female contributions to math, science and technology means that we must first foster that possibility by encouraging girls to succeed in math and science fields that create technology.
The low percentage of female computer science graduates in Universities is to blame for the tech industry being male-dominated. According to the National Science Foundation, fewer than 30% of U.S. science and engineering programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels comprise women. The lack of proportional female to male representation in the field may be due to a lack of female role models in tech industry.
In the past, yes, the tech industry was mostly men. This is no longer the truth for everywhere today. It was the men who were interested in computers and gaming before it really caught on for women to be interested. There were other things that women found interest in, so of course men had this industry covered. Women in the present are more into technology and gaming as well, so it would make sense that with time more women will infiltrate this field.
To anyone that's actually concerned about this, it is your fault. It was your fault you didn't go into one of the STEM fields. All humans in the modern world are encouraged to go into the best fields. Women AREN'T being discriminated against. Either go into one of these fields, or stop complaining.
I think that the fact the tech industry is male dominated is not really any ones fault. Women may not have been interested in the field before or at least as many as their was men. Also I think once Women continue to come up with more and more great ideas it will shift.
