Withdrawing from Iraq: Was the "surge" not really a "success"?

  • It was not a success.

Our goal of the "surge" was to take someone who was a threat to society out of power. Saddam Hussein was deemed by America to be a tyrant. However, the "surge" did more than just take an oppressive leader out of power. It seriously damaged the lifestyle and well being of the people of Iraq as well.

  • The Surge Was Not a Success

All the surge in Iraq really did was cause more people from the area to not want us to be there. Think about it this way, if a bunch of countries came into the U.S. To try and liberate us from our way of life, wouldn't most of us be really upset and resort to violence to try and get rid of them? Just think of the movie "Red Dawn.,,"
