Would the United States be better off today if George W. Bush was still president?

  • He wasn't great, but he definitely would've been better than Obama.

He was very effective with his foreign policy. People typically like to say "Well look who killed Osama. Obama: 1 Bush: 0." but to me I say that Bush got rid of one of the worst dictators and it seems people seem to forget this. There are some things Obama did better about Economy but both were pretty bad, but Obama spending has added us in more debt than before. It also seems like Obama has flip-flopped on his views a LOT since election which really infuriates me.

  • In the Foreign Policy realm yes

While I agree that we shouldn't have been quite so aggressive after 9\11 and should have focused on the people who attacked us that day the bottom line is that Bush understood one simple thing most people forget. You can love Thy neighbor but don't expect him to love you back. People who hate , hate you cannot change that and in the middle east especially if you show fear they will take advantage. Barak Obama (appears) to not care that people are dying everyday because of a Weak America. If he is not willing to fight, then lets help those people (Kurdistan) that are willing to do it.

  • He wasn't that bad!

People mark George W. Bush as the one who "ruined America." We don't live in a dictatorship, it's a democracy for a reason. Stop blaming him for everything. Congress supported everything he did, and so did America. When we went to war after 9/11 people supported it because the US went to war after they crossed a line. Something similar happened after Pearl Harbor, I believe. The only difference was there was more involved in WWII. Obama said he would pull troops out as soon as he got into office, but once he got there it was harder than he thought (go figure). His education reforms had good intentions, he wasn't putting targets on peoples backs to make them fail. Obama thought he was going to come into America and clean everything up, but it's not that easy. There's a cycle to the economy, and it was bound to dip eventually, George W. Bush just happened to unfortunately be in office when it happened.

  • He actually cares!

George W. Bush seems to actually care about America and Americans. He had a great economy going until the Democrats gained control of the Congress in 2006, and then all hell broke loss! Bush did what he needed to do. Obama is to worried about being on TV and making sure all of America see him. He's a joke!

  • Beating Around the Bush

Did everyone forget that the recession began under Bush? How about the catastrophe that turned out to be Hurricane Katrina, when it took how long to get water to the Super Dome? Don't forget that September 11th occurred under his watch, and that there was no weapons of mass destruction found in Iraq. We cannot forget the National Security leak surrounding CIA agent Valerie Plame, whose husband previously investigated and told the Bush administration that there were no WMD's in Iraq before the war began.

  • Hahaha, pal, hell no.

George Bush was not a good President in my opinion. Yes he cared about the American people and blah blah blah, but Bush did a lot of things considered questionable. His "education reforms" have left lots of our kids failing, and 9/11 was only an excuse to go to Iraq/Iran for some good ol' fashioned revenge for the near assassination of his precious father. So, no, we wouldn't be better off.

  • He was a bad president

Honestly with all things considered, President Bush was a bad president. Do not get me wrong he was just as bad as many others but, he got us into a war we did not need killing men who did not need to die. He used the people by taking their sadness from the 9/11 attack and turning it into support for his war. "If you do not support the war you do not support the troops or those who suffered on 9/11." Please..

  • Is there much of a difference?

Both Bush and Obama have gotten us way into debt with little to show for it. Bush, with the war spending, and Obama, with the stimulus spending. Both have been responsible for decreasing our personal liberties as well. For example, Bush took away rights with the Patriot Act, while Obama took rights away with the NDAA 2012.

In the end, I think the country would be equally worse off with either Bush or Obama. Both are for bigger government in some way and both would have brought us into a lot of debt.
