As Internet connections have matured to faster and faster broadband pipelines, webcam manufacturers have been keeping pace with higher resolutions and improved optics to take advantage of the larger bandwidth. And more than just communicating over chat and VoIP, webcams are increasingly used to broadcast Truman Show-esque live video feeds of one's every move (such as at Justin.tv) as well as high-quality mini-movies uploaded to sharing sites. And that's where the Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 really shines, with its 2-megapixel image sensor, smooth-tracking autofocus, high-end Carl Zeiss optics, and HD video capabilities (with the capability of recording video at 960 by 720 pixels).

Great Webcam for Stills and Video Dec 15, 2009
4.00 4/5.0
Pros:
Great software, OK support, easy to set up, and excellent for the casual webcam user.
Cons:
A bit more expensive than others, no widscreen, 15fps cap at highest resolution.

Review: Great webcam for everyday webcam chat, quick snapshots and video capturing. Do check out Microsoft's 720p webcam too.

Really Well Designed High Quality Web Camera Jun 24, 2009
5.00 5/5.0
Pros:
Exceptional video quality for a web camera. Good audio quality. Amazingly well engineered stand.
Cons:
Colors and image degrade fast with lower light levels. Outdoors ambient sound overtakes audio.

Review: I needed a web camera good enough for video conferencing but got one that can be used for video projects. The QuickCam Pro 9000 has crossed the webcam quality barrier.

Price (but well worth it)

Review: If you need to show off really small things (even fine print in legal documents!), this is the web cam for you!
