Michael Vaughn Hatcher is a former Major League Baseball player and a former coach. Most notably, he was Kirk Gibson's replacement for the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 1988 World Series, batting .368 with two home runs and five RBI. He is from Mesa, Arizona and is a graduate of Mesa High School. After playing high school baseball for Mesa High School, Hatcher attended the University of Oklahoma and was drafted twice before signing with the Dodgers in 1977 .
