Socialism is better then Capitalism

(Post Voting Period)
I would expect there would be many to challenge this argument. The reason for that is because of the carrot on the stick dangling in front of your faces. A Capitalist Society gives off the belief that we can "get a piece of the pie" This keeps us blinded on what is right for our people and our country.

The wealth of the earth belongs to all men or to none. Under capitalism, property is concentrated into the hands of relatively few well-off people, leaving the many with nothing and at the mercy of the rich for work, charity, etc. This leads to gross inequality, exploitation and misery. Nor is it economically efficient, as the rich have so much already they have no incentive to use their land productively. Socialism seeks to redistribute wealth and to ensure that the means of production are at the service of the whole of society, so that all can benefit and none will go without.

Many could be motivated to work by a wish to aid their fel

The War in Iraq

(Post Voting Period)
Debate Description

In this debate Con will argue that the War in Iraq is wrong. Pro will have to argue the war in Iraq is just and right.

I will start this debate off by making a few points

• War can never be a moral act, not even as a "last resort." In the best case, war is a necessary evil.

• The war in Iraq does not qualify as a just war, conforming to a set of principles that have evolved among civilized societies. A just cause should not be confused with a just war.

• This War has had corrosive effects on our Constitutional rights. It has brought out the worst in our presidents, vice-presidents, and attorney generals who are tempted to take shortcuts.

• This War has selectively and profoundly disrupted the lives of more than a million family members across the United States. There have been more than 4

The earth WAS created by God

(Voting Period) First, some questions for the opponent. If the earth and the universe and everything was created by a tiny particle, then where did that particle come from? If the solar system including the earth was the result of a solar nebula that collapsed from the formation of the sun, then where did the solar nebula come from? If at first the earth was a hot glowing ball of white hot gases, where did the hot glowing ball of white hot gases come from?

All of the answers to those questions lead to one main idea, there was some being that had to have created those things. Therefore, God is the obvious answer.

I believe that God created the earth because it is the most reasonable answer to me and many other people in this world. Since science can only prove what is observable, everything that deals with God can not be proved with science, however that also means that science can not disprove anything about God.

Look around yourself when you are outside, no mere man

Should the U.S. discontinue affirmative action?

(Voting Period) The final outcome of this argument is: the U.S. should discontinue affirmative action; or the U.S. should not discontinue affirmative action.
I am making the ethical claim that the U.S. should discontinue affirmative action.
Definition(s):
Affirmative action - "an active effort to improve the employment or educational opportunities of members of minority groups and women; also : a similar effort to promote the rights or progress of other disadvantaged persons" ("affirmative action,").
Equality - the quality or state of being equal ("equality")
My premises are as follows:
-Human beings are ends in themselves: not a means to an end. Therefore, it is immoral to deny a person's rights to serve the societal end of "equality." (Kant)
-The essential function of someone working within a business is to perform the duties assigned to them. A person's race does not establish inherent capabilities to perform a given task. Therefore, affirmative action is irrelevant

Television can control your mind

(Post Voting Period)
Topic

In this debate I will argue that watching to much television can literally brainwash you and change your life for the worse. Americans watch an average of 6 hours of TV per day. the more television you watch, the less literate, you become.

Con will argue watching 4 to 6 hours of TV every day does not have any affect on any person, intellectually, emotionally, or sociably.

I am looking for a serious debate on this topic, my experience on this site has had its flaws, but from what I have read there are plenty of you who take debates seriously. I am looking forward to a enjoyable, intellectual debate.

I will now turn it over to my opponent to make his opening argument.

Ancient Alien theory...did they exist?

(Post Voting Period) I would like someone to try and prove the Ancient Alien theory is a hoax, or disinformation. I believe there is an incredible amount of evidence of their existence.

Many Scholars theorize that intelligent extraterrestrial beings have visited Earth, and this contact is connected with the origins and development of human cultures, technologies, and religions, I agree and, propose that deities from most, religions are actually extraterrestrials, and their technologies made them God like to the beings already on earth.

The Sumerian culture popped up over night with extraordinary intelligence. They were the first civilization to create, writing, roads, schools, etc. In the long timeline of human existence their culture jump started human evolution. How could they do this on their own, without teachers? I don't believe they did, they had help.
