A Robot Uprising would be more disasterous to humanity than a Zombie Apocalypse

(Post Voting Period) This is the second round of Freeman's debate tournament. Since my opponent is busy for a while, we decided to do a less serious debate and go with this. First I thank Darth_Grievous_42, who did this debate before and was the inspiration for this round.

Obviously I also thank Hello-Orange for accepting and wish him luck.

First some clarifications before we get started.

1. I defend humanoid, generally intelligent robots. The justification is that in order to rebel, robots have to realize they should destroy the human race (for whatever reason) and that rebelling is in their best interest . In other words, I defend the kind similar to those shown in I Robot, shown here.

2. Going off I Robot, my bots are susceptible to damage. Guns can destroy limbs rather easily, but hand-to-hand is not viable unle

welfare promotes laziness

(Voting Period) The basis of my argument is that by giving people the option to welfare by human nature they will rely on government aid as long as it is offered. Let us first look at the number of people drawing welfare which in 1994 was around 15 million people, and is obviously risen a significant amount since that time. During my extensive research of this topic one thing has became aware to me, that if given the option people will allow others to do the work for them without themselves doing anything. Lets use logic for a moment, if someone offered you the chance to have everything you need payed by another person, who would decline? There are no circumstances that someone would not decline to that proposition. There are a several ways in today's age that people can obtain some sort of government help. Out of all these options there are "loop holes" in everyone that would allow some one to get away from having to work.

That is my opening argument, its not in depth but

Rehabilitation is more important than punishment

(Voting Period) This debate is for the first round of the tournament organised by Freeman. http://www.debate.org/forums/debate.org/topic/10641/

Many thanks to Hello-Orange for agreeing to debate this subject with me.

Full resolution: Rehabilitation should be valued above punishment when dealing with convicted criminals.

This is a very broad topic that could potentially encompass arguments of a political, economical, moral, philosophical and emotional nature. I hope it is stimulating and insightful for both of us.

I would like to give my opponent the opportunity to go first if he so wishes. Alternatively, he is free to just accept the debate in this round and I will make my case in round two. If Con chooses to begin arguing in round 1, he should not make any arguments in the final round, to ensure we both have an equal number of turns to debate.

Thank you.

(Post Voting Period) full resolution, "Resolved: Access to drinking water ought to be valued as a human right instead of as a commodity"

I'm hesitant about debating this topic here on DDO, but I figured it's at the very least worth a try.

I'll allow my opponent to go first when accepting this debate. I repeat: the first round is not just for acceptance, if you accept begin the round. I realize that I am at a disadvantage that way but I'm fine with that.
Make whatever kind of arguments you'd like, even semantics aren't off limit.

Debate/Argument style, rhetoric, etc. Feel free to argue however you'd like.

The only rule/stipulation is that by accepting this debate, you agree not to post any rules either. Neither to limit the resolution or your BOP.

(Voting Period) Rules:

- My opponent as the Con will be arguing that Morality is Subjective in nature.
- Through the course of this debate, we will not be trying to determine what is moral; but we will be discussing the nature of morality; whether is Objective or subjective

(Voting Period) In this debate, I will argue that needing to provide your cell phone number to access certain features is inappropriate for a website such as Debate.org.

1. Some people may not have a cell phone

Not everyone has a cell phone, contrary to what most Americans (who are all close-minded in this respect) think. There is not a need for some people to have one.

2. Having to borrow the cell phone of a friend/family member is an outrageous solution

This is just an unnecessary and outrageous solution to a superfluous problem. Why burden someone I know just so I can access features on a website?

3. What will they do with my number?

Send me messages? Why? Call me? I doubt it, but why give them the chance? I have no idea who anybody here is; for all I know, I could be given a paid subscription or some such thing.

It says the won't send me unrequested messages. How do I know they're not lying? It's been done, and is just an unnecessary risk.

The 3 necessary qualities for a 'good' teacher.

(Voting Period) Ok, this is my first debate on here, sorry if I screw this up in anyway.

The topic here is, what does it take to be a good teacher? I figure everyone has some slightly different view of the necessary requirements.

My view is this:

A teacher is to present the information, to present it in a way that the student(s) can grasp, so as not to teach 'over their heads'.

In order to do this I feel 3 things are necessary.

1. The teacher must be aware of their own limitations.
A teacher must know exactly what they can and can't help someone else to learn. Otherwise they risk getting in over their head and poorly presenting information and misguiding their student. An example being a drama teacher opting to fill in for the astro-physics teacher...probably not a good idea.

2. The student's limitations.
A teacher must be aware of what a student already knows, in order to meet them at their level. For a college level algebra class to go over basic add
