Islam is a Religion of Peace as Preached and Practiced.

(Post Voting Period) The proposition on offer is that, as preached and practiced, Islam is a religion of peace. There are several points that counter this view, and I shall present them here in broader terms for both the audience and my opponent.

It has been said that the Qur'an is a collection of verses that teach peace except when provoked, and that any violence attributed to Islam is portrayed out of context, and is incorrect. However, there are two fundamental problems with this proposition.

First, even contextualized, the violent nature of Islam goes beyond simply "an eye for an eye." Second, the notion that that has in practice produced a peaceful climate of international relations (or intertribal at the time) is laughable, and obviously false in light of the expansion of the Islamic Empire in the 600's.

Here's just a few examples of the violence that is preached and encouraged.

Islam is a religion of peace

(Post Voting Period)
Thank you Fatihah for agreeing to debate this most important matter.
This is a continuation of a debate from the forums:

I will distinguish Fatihah's words from mine by putting them in italics.

My main argument is from verse 5, the 1st 4 are to provide context:

1. Freedom from (all) obligations (is declared) from Allah and His Messenger () to those of the Mushrikun (polytheists, pagans, idolaters, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah), with whom you made a treaty.

2. So travel freely (O Mushrikun - see V.2:105) for four months (as you will) throughout the land, but know that you cannot escape (from the Punishment of) Allah, and Allah will disgrace the disbelievers.

3. And a declaration from Allah and His Messenger to mankind on the greatest day (the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah - the 12th month of Islamic calendar) that Allah is free from (all) obligations to the Mushrikun (see V.2:105) and so is His Mess

Is the Qu'ran scientifically proven

(Post Voting Period)

This debate is in response to a forum post made by Fatihah it is as follows:

Response: The fact that the Qur'an is the true word of Allah is proven scientifically, through the following tests:

"Will they not then meditate upon the Qur'an? Had it been from anyone other than Allah they would surely have found therein much discrepancy."

Here we have test that demonstrates that there is no error in the Qur'an, showing the truthful nature of the Qur'an. If a person disagrees, then the individual can take up the challenge to find a discrepancy in the Qur'an and when the person discovers that there is no discrepancy, then the only logical conclusion that can be derived is that whomever the author of the Qur'an is, the individual is a truth teller and righteous because all of the content in the Qur'an is without error, indecency, and immorality. The question still remains as to who is the author? T

That Islam is perfect...

(Post Voting Period) Hello debaters.
After a heated exchange with my opponent I've decided to put it to you, the people on who has the stronger argument.
I purpose that Islam is NOT PERFECT.
I purpose that Islam is IMPERFECT.

I am using definitions (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/perfect):
2) ...excellent or complete beyond practical or theoretical improvement.
3) ....exactly fitting the need in a certain situation or for a certain purpose
4) ...entirely without any flaws, defects, or shortcomings
8) ...unqualified; absolute

If my opponent does not agree to these definitions, we can discuss them in the comment section until we come to an agreement.

Based on my opponents comment in the "Propaganda: Why attach it to Islam" forum: "Coming to islam, by perfection, I am saying that islam is the most perfect way of life in establishing peace when it's laws are followed. This is the perfection being claimed. Hope that this is much more clearer...", I don't think he

Quran Ethics: Homosexuality.

(Voting Period) First of all I wish to thank Fatihah for accepting this debate, I will be contesting this ethic, whilst Fatihah will be defending that Homosexuality is wrong. It is Important to remember this debate is NOT about the authenticity of the Quran, Nor is it about if the Quran is or is not the word of god. Although my opponent may if they so wish use these statements against me, and I may refute them.

Round 1 - Initial Argument (No rebuttals in First round)
Round 2 - Rebuttal of each Previous argument.
Round 3 - (Extension of Arguments, and Rebuttals to claims in the second round.)
Round 4 - Conclusion (No new Arguments, Only Rebuttals and building of the previous Arguments?)

Con Argument: -

Point One.

First let me give some verses referring to Homosexuality so that the readers may know why my opponent affirms the position it is wrong.
