Photoshop Contest

(Post Voting Period)
Welcome to the Photoshop Novelty Debate!

Concept:

I will be providing my opponent with an image and a theme. It will be his burden to manipulate the image using photoshop (or similar photo manipulation software) within the context of the theme. After he has finished rendering the image, he will post it as a rebuttal. In his rebuttal, he will also post an image and a theme for me. This cycle will continue until the 5th and final round.

Rules:

The image must be a .jpg, .png or .bmp file extension. (No gifs, PDFs or other odd image types).

The image resolution must be at least 500 x 300. (Pre and Post rendered).

The images may not portray hateful ideology, pornography or real human suffering. (This includes all images from "faces of death", "Anti-gay", "Anti-Religion" and "Anti-cultural/racial" sources).

The Eastern Orthodox Church is the Church founded by Jesus Christ in 33 AD

(Post Voting Period) My goal with this debate is to conclusively prove that what we now call the Eastern Orthodox Church is the same Church founded by Christ. The same "one, holy, catholic and apostolic" Church referenced in the Nicene Creed.

I suspect that prior to the debate, the position I am staking out will be accepted by an extreme minority here, and I know it is quite taboo these days for any Christian to claim their Church is the true one (infact, truth of any kind is pretty quaint these days, isn't it?). But I am hopeful that both my fellow debater and our audience can set aside their biases and hear the arguments out in as objective a manner as possible. This is after all how I came to the Orthodox Church - I was not raised in it (I was raised agnostic), and did not even know much of anything about it until my late 20s.

Let the first round be for acceptance and also for clarification on any definitions as deemed necessary by the con side. I would also like to point

Hoteliers should have the right to refuse the custom of undesirable guests

(Post Voting Period) If a couple of stinking, flea-bitten tramps find a big wad of cash under a bush and decide to check-in to the Hotel de Posh for the night, it is likely that the hotel staff would turn them away. Why? Well, because the sight of two vagabonds scoffing big plates of grub in the hotel's opulent restaurant or supping copious amounts of booze in the cocktail lounge is likely to deter other guests from spending money in those facilities, and their presence might also damage the hotel's reputation.

So, if the hotel would be justified in turning away tramps, what about a couple of shaven-headed, heavily-tattooed yobs? I'm sure they would be about as welcome as a ginger son-in-law and, as such, the hotel would be justified in ejecting them from the premises.

But what if those yobs happened to be gay? Should a hotel be allowed to turn them away then? The answer would seem to be "no", at least if the hotel is located in the UK where, yesterday, two gay men who had

(Post Voting Period) My opponent was unfortunately a few minutes late in posting his argument, so we have decided to make a part II. Try to be more careful in this debate about how much time you have left. The full resolution, definitions, rules, and debate structure are the same. Here is the previous debate: http://www.debate.org/debates/Islam-Is-a-Religion-of-Peace/3/

lesbian/gay love should be accepted in today's society

(Post Voting Period) I'm starting this debate because I strongly agree that gay/lesbian love should be accepted among society. There isn't anything wrong, in my opinion, with not being in a so called "straight" relationship.

1) Being gay or lesbian (therefore being attracted to your own gender) is perfectly normal and should be treated with the same respect as a relationship with opposite the opposite sex. It is a very natural, normal circumstance and it doesn't matter who we are, we should all have our fair chance at love. Not being mentally or physically attracted to the opposite sex doesn't mean we are weird or different...it means we are unique and special in our own little way. If being with our own gender makes us happy then SO BE IT, because we only live once. We are all people and everyone should be treated equally. Thus, being in love, marrying, or even just liking someone, of the same gender as yourself is not a horrible deed and should be seen as a welcomed

Embryonic Dust Cloud Theory

(Post Voting Period)
The Embryonic Dust Cloud theory attempts to explain how a planetary system is formed. It is defined as a cloud of Gas and Dust, which orbits a parent star. Within the cloud of Gas and Dust, planets form (from the dust itself).
This is thought to occur through gravitational forces. (Dust particles collide to form rocks, rocks collide to form planetoids and this build-up continues over a large period of time until a planet is formed through a slow, progressive, evolutionary progression.)

Roles: I will argue against the establishment of this theory. My opponent will defend this theory. Since we are debating a theory, let us admit that ultimate proof is lacking, therefore the burden of proof is irrelevant.

Rules: The opponent may include broader definitions of the dust cloud theory but must provide a source that speaks directly abo

We are debating theory. If either side had the burden of proof, the opponent could win simply by invoking the absolute truth:"It's a theory, not a fact. Hence any argument is void for absolution."

Creationism will be defined as:
The sovereign will of God creating all things.
Should marijuana be legalized in NY and the cross the East Coast?

(Post Voting Period) Marijuana has been medically prescribed to cancer patients in California, however the federal government constantly raids and confiscates marijuana distributors. In NY the prohibition stands, if CA is the pioneer state than shouldn't NY follow suit. NY State legislature prohibits the use of marijuana both socially as well as medically. Furthermore, certain rules and policies have been implemented to support federal statutory restrictions in having marijuana rejected as a medicinal substance. Personally I feel marijuana destroys brain cells and creates brain dead zombies. I am against legalizing marijuana in medical as well as personal use, I feel that there is no significant release from pain to have marijuana as an alternative to prescription pain killers.
