<title>Hiroshima and Nagasaki; did the US have a choice?</title>
<link>http://www.debate.org/debates/Hiroshima-and-Nagasaki-did-the-US-have-a-choice/1/</link>
<description>(Post Voting Period) In this debate; both sides must bring forth compelling evidence to defend their claims.

Pro will present their argument that the United States could have resolved the war by less catastrophic means that would have resulted in the timely unconditional surrender of Japan. Pro is free to argue that success could have been achieved without unconditional surrender.

Con will present the argument that the other alternatives for the United States would not have been less catastrophic, and would have resulted in prolonging the resistence of Japan; leading to either a delayed; or avoided unconditional surrender of Japan.</description>
