The Existence of God

(Post Voting Period) By God, I mean a classical theistic conception of God. An omnipotent, omniscient, perfectly good God. Not a specific God, of course, just a being with these 'attributes.'

I'd ask that devient.genie use round 1 for acceptance of the debate, so that I can begin my case in round 2.

God is not real.

(Post Voting Period) I've reactivated the debate, now that my distinguished opponent, Nur-Ab-Sal is finished with his debate.

I've got a couple of simple rules, though I doubt they're very necessary:

1. No trolling
2. No overt insults (keep any contempt for the opponent's side limited to covert insinuations)
3. For the voters, in the event of a forfeiture by either party, no default votes (and no 'votebombing')

That much said, I'd like to welcome and wish well my opponent, and hope that this debate is enjoyable to both parties, and the audience.

Atlantis existed.

(Post Voting Period)
Resolution

The ancient civilization of Atlantis existed at some point in time.

Clarifications

I will be arguing Pro, for the existence of the Lost Kingdom, and Con will be arguing that the city never existed. Round 1 is for Con's acceptance, and I would additionally ask for no semantic play. There will be four rounds, with three days to post an argument, and 8000 characters maximum. An external link for sources is acceptable, but not required.

I will offer a definition:

Definition

Atlantis: the civilization Plato was referring to in the Timaeus and Critias

Good luck to Con.

The Earth is hollow.

(Post Voting Period) This is in response to this thread: http://www.debate.org/forums/science/topic/21157/

A brief explanation of the subject can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hollow_Earth

Hollow in this case does not refer to the fact that there are caves and mines in the outer part of the crust, but to an alleged vast central space inside making up a significant fraction of the Earth's total volume.

I will be arguing that the earth, in fact, is not hollow to any significant degree. My opponent will be attempting to show evidence that it is.

My opponent is welcome to either post his opening arguments R1, or to post his acceptance and await my opening arguments.

I thank my opponent in advance, whomever he may be.

Napoleon v. Washington

(Post Voting Period) time: 1812

(Yes I know Washington was not in control then).

I argue if there was a war AT THIS TIME in the US (assuming Washington controlled the military) would win.

Factors taken out:

Britain is not in the US at this time, ignore that war. We are assuming instead Napoleon was the invader of 1812 instead.

No semantics trolling etc. 1st round acceptance. I argue Washington wins.

Burden of Proof is shared.
1st Round is for acceptance.

This is not a semantics argument but the definition of freewill is provided below.

Testing on Animals

(Post Voting Period)
So many animals are killed because of products being tested on animals. I believe the only reason we do it is because they are like us, but helpless and can't stop you from testing products on them. Taking innocent animals, making them go through pain and suffering, and then killing them is not a humane way to treat any living creature. They should be able to live a happy life and not one in pain and suffering that will ultimately lead to death because of a science experiment. Test it on something else; there are other ways to test if a product's safe than putting it on animal. Animals cruelty is NOT okay and should be banned.

Whoever excepts my challenge: good luck.

What came first, the chicken or the egg?

(Post Voting Period) I am for that the Chicken came first. There are many reasons that I believe this.
1. The egg needs the warmth of the mother to survive. An egg can not survive alone without the warmth and protection of the mother.
2. An egg unfertilised won't grow to become a chicken. The rooster needs to exist for there to be fertilization of the egg.
3. An egg, whether you're an atheist or believe in a God, can't just appear out of no where and then become a chicken.

Now let's look at these topics more closely.

The Egg needs it's mother. There can't be any argument against this point. The Mother chicken must keep the egg warm for it to fully develop and to guard it from predators. And after it has hatched it still needs it's mother for warmth and for food. The baby chick can't fend for itself. It needs to learn and to adapt the lifestyle of it's mother. The chicken must also produce the egg and it must also be fertilized by a rooster for to develop to become a baby c

The 2012 movie, Wrath Of The Titans, is better than its predecessor, Clash of the Titans 2010

(Post Voting Period) Today, I would like to debate that the 2012 film Wrath Of The Titans is better than the movie that preceded it, Clash of The Titans 2012.

Before we begin I would to set a few definitions:

better= of superior quality and or/make
predecessor= a certain thing, which is then followed/replaced

In this debate, you can take into account pretty much anything involved with the film; eg. critical reception, box-office etc.

I would prefer not to have any trollers join. I'd prefer this debate to be legitimate. Am looking for a good fight. Hope someone accepts. Thank you.
