This is for the second official DDO Tournament, and this is the second round. It is a great honor to be debating Zaradi again, and to have this oppertunity to discuss this really important topic.

Once again I don't think either of us will really try to cheat with our definitions. "Society" is to be taken in the most general possible sense, so pointing out specific people who have better things to do than care about animal rights is not sufficient to carry the motion. Generally this motion is about whether animal rights should be recognised and not about who should recognise them. Rules and Conditions:

1. This is the November/December topic for 2011 in LD. Thus, this will be treated as an LD debate.
2. Both traditional and progressive cases are allowed.
3. Cases are allowed to be posted in google documents if they exceed the 8000 character limit. All rebuttals must be inside the limit.
4. Forfeit means automatic loss, unless this rule is voided by the non-forfeiting debater.

Round structure:

Round One: Neg proposes debate, aff accepts and posts case.
Round Two: Neg posts case and rebuttal. Aff posts rebuttal.
Round Three: Neg posts rebuttal, aff posts last rebuttal.

Deviation from this round structure is automatic deduction of conduct point for one offense, automatic loss for two.

To precisely define the term illiterate and uneducated allow me to clarify: Illiterate refers to the inability to read while uneducated refers to people that have not graduated high school. The logic behind this is to be directed towards an American legal viewpoint. There are 3 arguments for this: 1. People that cannot read show an inability to make the right judgement because of their education. 2. Voting is to give the best for your country. To not be educated would pose a problem for this. 3. Voting is a priviledge given to those who want to make a positive impact for their country. Those who cannot even make a positive intellectual impact should not have this priviledge
