If one is both homeless and unemployable, one should rob a bank.

(Voting Period) Thanks to whoever accepts this debate.

I will make this round no longer than it needs to be by providing some simple points, then drawing a conclusion from them.

1. Being homeless would suck compared to being rich.

This is pretty obvious. Eating garbage vs. eating whatever you want. Freezing in winter vs. being comfortably warm. Using a cardboard box as a blanket vs. using a Hannah Montana bedspread... erm, I mean, a real manly bedspread with pictures of beer and stuff on it. And steaks.

2. If the robber is successful, he would be rich.

Obvious, no need to expand.

3. If the robber is unsuccessful (i.e. gets caught), he will be imprisoned.

People in prison live in luxury compared to the homeless. Three squares a day, a roof over their head, some gainful employment. They also use smokes as currency so the formerly-homeless would not feel too out of his/her element.

CONCLUSION: If a person is homeless and unemployable, he/she should rob a

The Problem of Evil can be refutted effectivley.

(Post Voting Period) Problem of Evil-a philosophical argument against the existence of a God who is all-present, all-knowing, all-powerful, and all-loving based on the premise that if such a God existed the amount of evil and suffering in this world would be significantly less if not non-existent.

I will allow my opponent to establish his/her own version of the problem of evil in round one, and then I will publish a theodicy in round one.

Sources are insignificant, the only source I will be using is my mind and I encourage my opponent to use his.

A Resolution To Eliminate Texas Top 10% Admittance Rule

(Post Voting Period) Hello this is my first online debate. I wish luck to whomever my opponent is, let's begin shall we.
I am here to speak in negation for eliminating the top 10% admittance rule which is a rule that allows the top 10% of a class to get admittance into any College or university of their choice. The rule was passed in 1997 to make sure that there was no discrimination against races when it came to admittance in colleges and universities. The top 10% rule has shown some positive benefits such as 1. students admitted under the rule get better grades then other students and graduate at higher rates, 2. Racial diversity has improved in some colleges, and 3. Economic and geographic diversity have improved as well. The rule is also positive because it gives students at school something to strive for and therefore encourages them to try better. Many people claim the rule is unfair because one school's top 10% could be another school's top 40% and they claim it's unfair as

The all new Pak-a-Spak™ Rucksack will be a "must have" accessory for male commuters

(Voting Period) Those of us who travel to work by train or metro will know all too well how difficult it is to get a seat in the rush hour and if a male commuter is fortunate enough to get a seat, social etiquette demands that he must give his seat up if he sees a lady standing. This inevitably means that a gentleman is never sat down for very long.

But would his fellow passengers feel that he should relinquish his seat to a perfectly able-bodied woman if he was cradling a disabled toddler in his arms? No, of course not!

Well, that's where Eggleston's Sub-Ethical Enterprises' all new Pak-a-Spak™ Rucksack comes in. You see, concealed within a perfectly normal-looking rucksack is an incredibly lifelike dummy of a small disabled child.

legalization of marijuana

(Voting Period) Evidence will show and who ever is to argue with me will hear that making marijuana a legal drug will be one of the most critical mistakes this country shall make. Marijuana has been one of the most commonly illegal drugs to be consumed by people through out the world. Statistics show that the death toll of marijuana consumers is at a very low state compared to the deaths of cocaine and tobacco consumers. Despite the fact it may not cause death, marijuana has been proved to have had many medical effects on people. For the United Sates to make a drug that has had many negative effects on our society an accepted product for our people is quite frankly, one of the worst mistakes our country has made.

Eminem is a better rapper than Lil Wayne

(Post Voting Period) I argue that Eminem is a better rapper than Lil Wayne.

I'm just going to present my facts straight up, and let my opponent refute them.

Contention 1- Eminem raps about the things that matter.

Eminem raps about a missed childhood, being left by his father at a young age, and a pill addiction. Lil Wayne raps about money, hoes, and more hoes. And more money. And bigger wheels. And more money.

Point is, Lil Wayne spits the superficial materials of life. What would you rather listen to? An emotionally heart-and-gut-wrenching 4 minute song about the loss of your daughter, or "A Milli"? :/

Contention 2- Eminem has sold more albums than Lil Wayne

Both Lil Wayne AND Eminem have both been in the mainstream rap industry for about the same time, from 1999-present. That being said, Eminem has sold over 80 million albums, while Lil Wayne has sold a mere 6.5 million albums. Clearly, people would rather listen to Eminem.

Contention 3- Eminem is white, wh

(Post Voting Period) My opinion on the matter is that: If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, than there is no way to prove that a sound is made. I'm not saying that it doesn't make a sound, just that it is impossible to prove that it does. I mean, no one heard it, right? That is all for now.

Pick Your Own Debate - 1D

(Voting Period) If you have participated or read any of these types of debates before, then this one should be no different. However, for those who haven't:

ROUND 1: This obviously includes this opening introduction and rules. For my opponent, he/she will post 3 topics (clarify them if you could) he/she wishes to debate, and then post his/her position on each of the topics. Please try to add a mix of subjects. Have some deal with religion, others with politics, others with art, others with social issues, etc.

ROUND 2-4: I will start my case by supporting or attacking one of three positions my opponent proposed. It should follow throughout as a normal 3-Round debate.

*NOTE* - I realize that politics are almost undoubtedly tangled with social issues, but a somewhat cut between the two would be fine. By politics, I imagine topics such as what is the best political system, what role does the government play, economics, taxes, so on and so forth. By social issues, I imagin

evolution\big bang

(Voting Period) Science leads to God

In my opinion many scientist are too proud to say creationism is a possibility. The ones that do are pushed out, Many scientist are made to accept evolution, to even be in the field of science.

I have to big questions for Evolution

The big bang, now scientifically if you hear a small bang there is going to be a reason why you heard it, it dosen´t just happen someone or something made it. Now how should it be any different for a big bang. I have not found any logical way this could occur, without an outside force. I think the big bang is a okay idea, but should not be considerd science.

Second, sure, we see small or mini evolution this dog is white, this dog has spots, if you want to call that evolution. Or even the butterfly example, were all the white moths were wiped out and the black ones were left, but that's not evolution that's just the disappearance of the white ones and the black ones were there before, so it really was

Changing the school year to all year

(Voting Period) When it comes to making the school year last throughout the entire year, I would have to support the movement to do so. In colonial times, the only reason students did not have to atten school during the Summer was so that they could help their family with the farm. Now that our entire country runs off of industry, virtually none of our students still live on a farm. Therefore, there is no economic incentive to keep the Summer break. Not to mention the educational benefits for students and opportunities for teachers. Teachers are given a criteria that they must teach their students by the end of the year. Often they struggle to teach it all if they ever do. So giving teachers this extra time to present and teach the students the information would highly benefit everyone and our future generations.

Nadya Suleman should lose custody of her children!

(Post Voting Period) Nadya Suleman has obviously been USING her children for fame and money that she has (and may be receiving in the near future from Britan?).She has no real job,and has been mooching off of anyone that is gullible enough to take pity on her.She spends money beyond her means on plastic surgery and implanting an absurd amount of embryos inside her.She is,without a doubt, using her money more on herself than her children.I find it unfair that someone so self absorbed should be allowed to use her children as if they are "pay checks" rather than living, breathing human beings that rely on financial support and, just as much needed love and attention. But,how can a mother do that if she is constantly focused on becoming. It is unhealthy for children (or anybody in general)to be put in front of a camera for a long period of time.Look at all of these celebrities that have turned to drug abuse and alcoholism, some have even resorted to suicide due to the stress of fame. Also,if

(Post Voting Period) I affirm the resolution, "When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns."

Gun - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun
Outlawed - made illegal (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/outlawed)
Outlaw - one who is "outside the law" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Outlaw)

Reasoning:
People within the law would be required to give up their guns. Outlaws, people outside the law, would simply continue to resist the law as always, and keep their guns.

Pop Culture Rap Debate

(Voting Period) Hey Lwerd, I've been watching your rap debates and have finally grown the balls to challenge you to one. This one will have rules, though:

1. Exactly 10 verses must be given (i.e. 20 lines of text)
2. Every verse (i.e. every set of 2 rhyming lines) must contain a pop culture reference.

My first round:

I'd like to thank Lwerd for accepting this challenge,
But this debate's a plane and that b*tch is Ritchie Valens.

More like the day Lwerd finally met her match with these raps, G.
I've seen her battle Lightning Rod, Vi_Veri and Sylux,
Compared to them I'll make Lwerd look just like Miley Cyrus.
Just like a bong or blunt yo, I'm gonna smoke ya,

(Post Voting Period) This topic is pretty straight foward.

I believe that everything is created for a reason, a purpose, but I could not think of a single reason for some annoying insect like the mosquito to exist. In fact, instead of even benefiting society in any way, it passes diseases like West Nile Virus to people. Not to mention the fact that once you get bitten, its hard to stop scratching the mosquito bite. Simply enough, the mosquito is not good in any way but is bad in a lot of ways.

Personal suicide should be legal.

(Voting Period) Thanks to whoever accepts this debate.

There are still places on Earth where the act of committing suicide is illegal. I am advocating the position that personal suicide should be legal. I will make a few arguments:

1. It is a completely impractical law to uphold. Indeed, it is the only law I can think of where the 'criminal' can only be punished if they FAIL in their attempt, as you can't imprison a dead person (though I'm sure men have tried).

2. One major reason (possibly the main reason) for instilling laws in the first place is to prevent crime. There is no way somebody who is about to commit suicide will be persuaded not to do so upon hearing there is a law against it.

3. Attempting to prevent suicide is, in itself, cruel and unusual treatment of a human. Many people believe suicide to be an inherently selfish act, but I believe quite the opposite. Forcing someone to endure with a life they've long tired of, merely because you have a personal
