Children should be lied to

(Voting Period) I believe that lying to children, whether in the form of perpetuating silly myths like the existence of Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and the Tooth Fairy, or by withholding factual answers to their questions about subjects such as sex and death, is bad, primarily for the children themselves but also for society as a whole.

Lying either directly or by omission is harmful because children eventually find out the truth, and an air of distrust is created. Children hear their parents say "It's wrong to lie" all of the time, but when they find out that Santa Claus doesn't exist, their natural reaction is one of confusion and eventual cynicism - "Why should I not lie like my parents told me to when they obviously lie?"

Even more dangerous is withholding information on more substantial issues such as sex, death, and the harshness of the world in general. There is no reason not to answer whatever questions a child asks in a truthful manner. Parents and other ad

(Voting Period) Young people today are well informed enough and mature enough to vote so the voting age should be lowered.

Resolved: McCain will not be president, even if Hillary is the democratic nominee.

(Voting Period) I'm glad that I can say this with conviction. McCain will not be president. He's like Bush all over again. Except that "I'm moderate" story isn't going to work for McCain. Conservatives AND Liberals don't like him. Even Ann Coulter said she'd vote for Hillary or Obama over McCain. Not to mention the president's 30% apporval rating and the so unpopular war in Iraq which McCain wants to keep for as long as it takes (and I quote, "maybe 100 years").

Resolved: McCain won't be the next president of the United States.

People voting on their personal opinions rather than debate content.

(Voting Period) After reviewing some debates, one person seems to always presented the best information, the most facts/figures, and proper grammar while the other person was the opposite. When the voting comes in, the person with the more "popular" viewpoint tends to win. My argument is that the question is "Who won the debate" not "Which side of the issue do you agree with". Is winning a debate more than saying what is popular? I am getting the feeling that on this site, the popular view points will almost always "win the debate" rather than the side with the "better debate".

(Voting Period) What else is there to really say? Animal testing is cruel. Just browse Google Images and you'll come up with many pictures of the poor animals. They have no voice, so we must speak for them.

(Voting Period) I am obviously a religiouss person. I don't believe in evolution and the Big Bang didn't occur. I know thos because where did the stuff to create the atom that formed the universe come from??? Where did it start? I am not debating God's existance, for I know it is real and true. I am debating against these 2 theories and their lack of sense and evidence.

God is Real and Evolution and the Big Bang Theory Aren't

(Voting Period) A lot of people say, well there is no proof for God, so how can he be real? Well, how logical really is the idea of evolution and the Big Bang Theory? How could there be nothing, and then something? Nothing+Nothing=Nothing...And even if there was an atom, where did the atom come from? Try explaining that. I have many pointns that go against the idea of evolution. Just think about life. Think of how wonderful life is. Just life itself is a miracle. Tell me where and how the planets formed and the universe began. Just let me know if you can answer or counter-argue with any of these questions and statements.

Jesus is God incarnate.

All christians should pounce on this debate.

Evolution Did Not Occur.

(Voting Period) Species evolve through natural selection, which involves mutations, am I correct? A bacterial genome is what all species came from if you believe in evolution right? Well, a bacterial genome, contains a lot less information than a human genome. Through mutations, information is at a loss. No new information is gained through a mutation. How do you explain the fact that human genomes contain more information? The NDT (neo-Darwinian theory) explains how information in life is built up by evolution. (Or at least supposed to) And evolutionary scientists cannot find a way to explain this or support it in terms of their theory. Can you or anyone?

Paparazzi Should Be Banned.

(Voting Period) I do not believe that the paparazzi should be banned. Although, there are many who go to extremes and completely invade a celebritie's personal space, not as many do. This is not an debate on those few, but paparazzi as a whole. It is their job. It is how they earn money. So many magazines, newspapers, and websites depend of photos and news on celebrities which is found through paparazzi. Also, part of being a celebrity is being in the public eye. It comes along with being famous.

(Voting Period) You told me to challenge you to a debate, so here it is... This topic is the topic of God. I would like you to understand that no matter how much "scientific things" you throw at me, you will not change my strong conviction in God. Although, I will never change my mind in my belief of God, I will debate the topic. Also, I would love to hear about your thoughts on the Big Bang and evolution. So far, none of my opponents have given an answer to my questions I have about the two theories. They have twisted the question and yet again tried to question my beliefs and faith. I hope that you will answer these questions directly. Also, I want to add that the type of evolution I am referring to is not the adaptations species may make to fit the conditions of their habitats, but evolution meaning that all animals share a common ancestor.

The Paparazzi Should Be Banned.

(Voting Period) I do not believe that the paparazzi should be banned. But I do believe that they should not take it to extremes, rushing in front of celebrities cars when they stop at a red light.

Reasons Why:

1. It is their job. It is how they get money.
2. This is what so many magazines and websites depend on today: News and pictures of celebrities.
3. Part of being a celebrity is being well known, not just on the screen, but also in real life.
4. Many people believe that paparazzi are invading into celebrities' lives too much and going to extremes in order to get one good picture. I agree, but not all are. Many just do their job without going to extremes. I do believe that something needs to be done about the lengths some are going to to get pictures, but that would be another debate. :) Also, this comes along with being a celebrity. Always being in the public eye.

Central Africa is the Region That Should Recieve the Most Help

(Voting Period) Central Africa is a region with lots of suffering, and many do not recognize that. Many people will disagree and say that a different region of Africa needs help.

The Southern region is known for HIV/AIDS.
The Northern region is known for humanitarian crisises (Darfur)
The Eastern region is known for constant ethnic rivalry.
The Western region is known for its malnutrition.

You don't hear much about Central. Central DOES suffer, and many people look to the other regions. In the Democratic Republic ALONE, with 67 million people, there is a less than 44 life epectancy. The Southern region has a good economy compared to other regions. The Northern region has more education. The Eastern and Western region have many resources and access to the coast.

What does the Central region have?

Land-locked countries dependant on crops, corrupt leaders, dense rainforest, and tragic histories. You may say that many regions had a tragic past, but have you conside
