Obama would be dangerous as president of the United States.

(Voting Period) Forget whether going to war with Iraq was the right or wrong decision, do you really think pulling out all our troops within 90 days is a good idea? The ramifications of pulling out would be TERRRIBLE. how can you not see that? We not only have a militaristic obligation, but a MORAL obligation as a country to finish what we started. Not only due we owe it to the Iraqi people, but WE OWE IT TO OUR SOLDIERS WHO SACRIFICED THEIR LIVES IN THIS WAR. The surge is working, political reconciliation is happening, yet Obama refuses to accept it. Pulling out of Iraq would lead to a civil war like we've never seen before. Think the killing fields in Cambodia after we left Vietnam.

What about Obama's connections with multiple controversial people? I'm not trying to use the "guilt by association" argument to attack Barack, but it is very interesting to me that he has been connected with so many controversial and dangerous people. Does the name Bill Ayers ring a bell? He

Obama will not be our next President

(Voting Period) Obama will not be our next President. I have three arguments for this stance on this debate.

1.RACE-Unfortunately America is not ready for a African American President. Racism is not far enough in our past yet. I am a Union member. Out of the twenty seven people I work with there are three Republicans, including myself. The "dems" I work with were split, twenty for Clinton, four for Obama. When Clinton lost the nomination twenty of the "Dems" said they would NOT vote for Obama. Race was the main factor in this swing but the flag and his Pastor were also included in there switch. At least in the white blue collared class it would be safe to say this is a common trend.

2.Division-The Democratic Party has developed deep division in this once honorable Party. With the Sixties brought Liberal ideas and the Democratic Party was quick to pick these votes up. In doing so they alienated there Party, but bonds are hard to break and the blue collar "dems" were and a

President Obama is bad 4 the US

(Voting Period) I am in strong affirmation that, President Obama is bad 4 the United States of America. President obama is a hypocrite he cast blame on big spenders saying there to blame 4 the economic situation. Then he has a 6 million dollar party when he takes office. He will not salute the flag of the united states cause he says there is no opportunity in America but after 2 generations the obamas have come from nothing to the most influential black family in the world. Obama has little experience and his stimulus package is garbage and will hurt our already crippled economy.

(Post Voting Period) Voters: When voting on this debate, please consider the arguments, regardless of your personal feelings of Obama.
amcclinton (CON) - in his profile and his email to me made the following statements:
"At the time I voted for him (BHO), I had no evidence that he would not be a more than adequate President. I know most people focus on the abortion issue. However, abortion (which I know to be wrong) is murder/killing and so is going into battle and killing others for whatever reason is equally wrong. Those who voted for Bush simply because of abortion reasons are missing the big picture. War is controlled at the command of the President. Abortion is not. A person still has to choose to have an abortion. There are many things that are immoral that we have not and most likely will not pass laws against. Should we not vote all together? Some religious people don't."

Barack Obama is irrational.

(Voting Period) One of Barack Obama's main rallying cries is that Washington is broken, that John McCain and Hillary Clinton have been part of the problem, not the solution. But the only thing Obama will do is expand Washington's power and control like WE'VE NEVER SEEN IN OUR 200+ YEARS AS A COUNTRY (with exception to the New Deal, from the socialist democrat darling FDR). Through nationalized health care, increasing taxes, environmental protectionism, business and corporate regulation, and more bureaucracy, Obama's future plan for Washington makes no sense at all with his original claim. If Washington is the problem and we need change, expanding Washington's power and control is the exact opposite solution that we need. His stance makes no sense and is completely irrational.

Obama has botched the recovery

(Post Voting Period) The full resolution is, "President Obama and the Democrats in Congress could have adopted different laws and policies to lead the United States into a more effective economic recovery."

This challenge is intended for an experienced debater; please do not accept the challenge if you are new to debating. This is a difficult resolution because it covers so much ground.

I contend:

1. The economic stimulus package was a failure. According to Obama Adviser Christina Romer, if it were passed unemployment would not exceed 8%, and by now it would be reduced to 7%. http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/114753-frank-obama-admin-dumb-to-predict-no-higher-than-8-unemployment Unemployment went over 10% and is now around 9.5%. It was supposed to build transportation infrastructure, but only 3.3% of it was spent on that. Most of the money went to bailing out states whose rampant spending, much of it going to employing overpaid government workers whose unio

The Obama Care bill should NOT have been passed

(Post Voting Period) I would like to say a few words here before starting my opening argument.
I respectfully request that only an American Citizen please join this debate on the 'con' side. I have nothing against view points from other countries on health care, but with a bill where American tax dollars are being used, I find it to be a more honest debate between two citizens directly effected. If I could have, I would have voted No to this bill and look forward to debating with someone who would have voted yes. (http://www.examiner.com/x-12837-US-Headlines-Examiner~y2009m8d10-Health-care-bill-HR-3200-read-it-online-now) Thank you.

On to the topic:

My contention is that the health care system in America is and has been broken for quite some time now. It is an important topic but not more important than our economy, jobs, etc. This bill was very politically motivated and rushed though without getting all the facts ahead of time. It is a simple case of throwing money after

Obama is murdering and terrorizing men women and children in Afghanistan

(Post Voting Period) Last week under Obamas leadership 22 men women and children were murdered by the US military.
http://www.rferl.org/Content/US_Military_Says_Kills_15_Afghanistan_Militants/1374170.html
With this said we are losing the war in Afghanistan and should pull out immediately to prevent the loss of anymore innocent life. Using the collateral damage argument does not work anymore. It wasn't good enough for George Bush so it can't be used by Obama. It is plain and simple murder. They were minding their own business and on the authority of Obamas leadership these 22 people were ruthlessly slaughtered by the Obama administration and the US military.

Obama Began His Presidency With an Apology Tour

(Post Voting Period)
I am offering this debate proposal to Roy Latham, a debater whose skills I frequently admire, before making it available to anyone else. In a recent debate, I offered a criticism of an argument that he repeated several times in the course of that contest. This argument relied on the following statement being true: “President Obama began his presidency with an apology tour.”

Obviously, I disagree, and would like to continue this discussion with Roy Latham, or perhaps RyuuKyuzo.

Obama's decision to not appear on Fox News was the beneficial decision to his presidency.

(Post Voting Period) President Obama has decided not to appear on Fox News or give them any interviews for the time being. His reasons include the fact that Fox News is a right-wing, manipulative and biased news source, and one that frequently insults him by flat out calling him a racist amongst other lies. Many people agree with Obama in his decision not to appear on Fox News; they don't see how it could possibly do him or the public any good, since he will be straw manned anyway. However, I posit that it was a bad decision in terms of political strategy, damaging to his reputation, a biased and unfair decision in itself, and a decision that ultimately does more harm for his candidacy than good. My opponent who accepts this debate will be defending the view that Obama's decision in this regard was the right one. I welcome any questions/clarifications from my opponent in the first round, and will begin listing my contentions in R2. Good luck.
