(Post Voting Period) People should just accept gay marriage because 1. it's not their business 2. it's not their choice and 3. People can be who ever they want to be.

Gay Marriage is Morally wrong and should not be Legalized

(Post Voting Period) The topic at hand is that we should not legalize gay marriage. (1) traditional Marriage in its sense, is defined as a bonding between one man and one woman. Not marrying in the same-sex. (2) Same-Sex marriage is morally wrong.

round 1 counts as accepting the argument and making your opening statements

(Post Voting Period) I think that gay marriage should be illegal, because me as an American should be walking around with my little son and see a gay couple having love. I also think that it is dangerous to the a adopted kid that is growing up in a gay household.

Legalization of Gay Marriage

(Post Voting Period)
Resolved: The reasons to make same-sex marriage legal in the United States outweigh the reasons not to do so.

(Note: This does not neccessarily refer to a specific jurisdiction within the United States, but rather any jurisdiction within the United States.)

I have made this debate unacceptable for now, as I would like to ensure a good opponent. I have tried this debate a couple of times before and have had forfeits both times.

The BOP is shared between Pro and Con.

Rules:

1. First round for acceptance, unless Con wishes to begin his or her arguments. If Con begins arguing in R1, he or she shall not post any arguments in R5.
2. Semantic arguments should not be counted.
3. Drops will count as concessions.
4. No new arguments in the last round.

Good luck to whomever accepts!

(Post Voting Period) This is my first debate, so I will choose a very broad topic, Gay Marriage

Rules and definitions: Constitutional- in this case, of or legal within the constitution of the United States of America.

Right- inalienable privilege of all people of the United States of America

First round is for acceptance
Second round is for arguments/initial statements
Third round is for rebuttals
Fourth round is for closing statements/no new arguments

Gay marriage should be legal

(Post Voting Period)
I'll keep this one simple.

This debate is (quite obviously) on the subject of whether or not gay marriages should be legal.

Round 1 will be for acceptance, with no arguments posted.
Round 2 will be for arguments, no rebuttals of Pro's arguments by Con yet.
Round 3 will be for rebuttals of round 2 arguments and for adding new arguments.
Round 4 will be for rebuttals of round 3 arguments and for adding new arguments.
Round 5 will be for final rebuttals with no new arguments.

Now, since this seems to be the ongoing trend in my debates as of late, let me get this one thing clear:
If you're going to forfeit every round, don't accept the debate.
I apologize for having to be a jackass in getting this across, but in over half of the debates I am currently in, my opponent has forfeited almost every round. It's a necessary precaution to say that I at least tried.
</str

Gay Marriage.

(Post Voting Period) (Using my same standpoints as all are valid and relevant.)

Separation of Church and State works both ways, therefore on legal grounds? This issue should be locked away indefinitely. Gays bring up the "fact" that it is a "Civil Rights" issue. First off, marriage was created by straights. As a patent owner, do you not have rights to said patent? As the creators of marriage, do we not have the right to reserve it?

Do you have any idea how many issues this causes? So if I had a birthday party, and I only invited Joe, John, and Susie, should I be vilified and legally punished/rendered irrelevant because somebody whined a little too loud? The action of allowing Gay Marriage has the cataclysmic effect of giving a spoiled child a toy. It will cause reverse discrimination, and destroy traditional marriage. The argument is "Well, they should be able to be with who they love, no one is forcing you to do it, so it doesn't cause any harm." Oh, so if being discriminat

Gay Marriage

(Post Voting Period) I really just needed to shove my opinion out there. What is the problem with gay marriage? Don't tell me the bible says no. The bible has nothing to do with what any man or woman should be allowed to do in their homes. The bible doesn't mean anything to non Christians., and not every American is Christian in the united states. We are not supposed to be based on one religion, so why does the bible have so much control? It shouldn't. So when someone says, the bible says marriage is between a man and woman, I just want to scream. I'm not Christian, the bible doesn't mean anything to me! So why should one dumb book be allowed to control so many people's lives? We don' t outlaw pork just because Jewish people don't eat it, do we? No no no. We are a free country. The bible isn't supposed to be allowed to control us, especially the non Christians, and the Christians that do believe homosexual people should be allowed to marry. Marriage is between two people who love e

What is commonly referred to as 'Gay Marriage' should be illegal

(Post Voting Period) The idea that people of the same gender can marry each other is ludicrous and flies in the face of logic. Marriage is a union between a man and woman, regardless of recent attempts by popular dictionaries to update their definitions.

Gay Marriage

(Post Voting Period) I will be challenging 16kadams to a debate on Gay Marriage. I will be arguing for gay marriage, on the Pro side.

I will be arguing that Marriage rights should be given to Homosexuals, but that parenthood should be defined as being between one Man and one Woman, one Father and one Mother, in line with nature. I will be arguing that Marriage is a concept thought up by humans, that marriage is both a religious act and a legal contract, but that it is not a natural act, as parenthood is.

So my side is, legalize gay marriage as there is nothing "unnatural" about gay marriage, as marriage was invented by humans, but that parenthood be defined as being between one Man and one Woman, meaning gay people cannot adopt, because children need both a Mother and a Father for a stable environment to grow up in.

I look forward to this debate with 16kadams. Good luck!

Gay marriage is unnatural

(Post Voting Period) Some people said that gay marriage was unnatural. They said that marriage was natural only between a man and a woman, because of the reproduction. A man should get married with a woman and they have a baby. That is a natural relationship.

THAT's NOT TRUE.
As we all known, a woman could not have a baby later than about 51 years old, because of the amenorrhea. They still can get married with a man if they want.
Why is a homosexual couple not allowed to get married? It is not unnatural.

Gay Marriage Should Be Legalized!

(Post Voting Period) I am looking for someone to give me a reasonable explanation(s) why a same-sex couple should not be allowed to participate in the beauty, sacredness, and holiness that marriage is. For the 1st round I am asking for acceptance, 2nd-4th round going deeper into the argument, and the 5th round should be the final conclusion. This is my first debate so I'm not quite sure what to expect. Also, absolutely NO copying and pasting. If you are going to speak on your opinion, let it be YOUR own. I have a lot to say so I look forward to this debate :)

First off, my name is Destinee Bayona. I'm an 18 year old freshman attending William Paterson University in New Jersey and Public Relations chairperson for CHOSEN: The Gender & Sexuality Alliance, formerly known as CHOSEN: Gay-Straight Alliance at my college. I am a bisexual - I did not choose this sexuality, nor was I born with it. Over time I noticed I had an interest in the same sex, I struggled with it but I decided thi

Gay Marriage

Gay Marriage Should Be Legal in the United States

(Post Voting Period) This debate was issued to InquireTruth... twice. He let it expire both times. Now I open it up to the public to defend his position because he apparently will not do so.

***************************************************

The proposition on offer is that Gay Marriage should be legal in the United States.

For the purposes of debate, "Gay Marriage" will be held to mean marriage between two individuals of the same sex. This definition arises from two segments of relevant law common to most states. From Illinois:

750 ILCS 5/201: Formalities. A marriage between a man and a woman licensed, solemnized and registered as provided in this Act is valid in this State.
750 ILCS 5/211(a)(5) a marriage between 2 individuals of the same sex.

Section 5/211(a) details prohibited classes of marriage. These laws are found at least in general form in many states.

Marriage shall be held to be in relevant part:

Gay Marriage

(Post Voting Period) Homosexuals, like heterosexuals, neither chose their sexual orientation, nor should they be denied the same legal rights heterosexuals enjoy simply because they were born different from what is considered "the norm." Every respectable scientific organization in the world, including the American Psychological Association, says that sexual orientation is connected to biological factors and cannot be changed.

Just as it is wrong to deny legal rights to blacks, women, and people born left-handed, so too is wrong to deny gay couples the legal equality and benefits that come with marriage.

Opponents of gay rights are quick to point out how the Bible says homosexuality is "an abomination." However, in the time the Bible was written, an abomination simply meant "out of the ordinary." Since the Bible does not clearly condemn homosexuality, it cannot logically be used as a weapon against gays.

Even IF the Bible did condemn homosexuality, gays would still be e
