McCain and Obama should not be allowed on the 2008 Presidential Ballot in Texas.

(Post Voting Period) Ladies and Gentleman, I come to you with blatant ignorance of the law. Let me explain to you:

The deadline for candidates to get their name on the ballot in Texas was August 26th @ 5:00 p.m. BOTH the Republicans and Democrats MISSED this deadline by not turning in the papers on time. By ANY interpretation of the law, they should not be allowed to be on the ballot, however, the Secretary of State in Texas seems to be poised to ignore this, and allow them on the ballot anyway.

============================================

This is absolute tyranny. While Republicans and Democrats slip by the law, independents are having the law turned against them to make it nearly impossible to gain access to all 50 states. The media seems to be either ignoring it or turning against the third parties who are currently demanding EQUALITY (as they should). Just because the majority didn't get the paper work filled out and turned in on time doesn't mean that you let them by.

John McCain picking Sarah Palin was a bad move!

(Post Voting Period) As we all are well aware of, John McCain announced about a week or two ago that Sarah Palin, former governor of Alaska, would be his VP nominee. At first I thought this move was genius on his part: Hillary is out, so why not pick a WOMAN as your VP?! Then you'll get all the Clinton supporters. However, the more I find out and research, the more I realize that this was one of the dumbest moves he could make! Especially in terms of PR.

P1. Let's start with experience. Palin served from 1992-1996 on the Wasilla, Alaska city council, then mayor of Wasilla in 1996. Now, Wasilla has a population of approximately 7,025...VERY small town to say the least. Now I know, I know! "well obama doesn't have experience! so why is it so bad for her?!" is what you might be thinking, but here's an eye-opener...Obama served in the US Senate for 4 years, that means that he has INTERNATIONAL experience too, and deals with government on a NATIONAL level, not the 7,000+ people and

With John McCain, the highest chance of World War III will be upon us.

(Post Voting Period) Warmongering... John McCain seems to be receiving this adjective more and more lately. Throughout this round I will prove that John McCain is a warmonger but more importantly, he will give us the greatest chance to be a part of the 3rd World War (which is obviously a bad thing)...

==========

Beginning with quotes from John McCain:

Questioner- "President Bush has talked about us staying in Iraq for 50 years"
John McCain- "Maybe a hundred. That be fine with me..."

John McCain- "We were in two wars today, combating it, and there are other places in the world where we may have to."

John McCain- "My friends, I know how to handle the Iranians, and I'll handle them."

John McCain- "These young people that are in this crowd, my friends, I'm going to be asking you to serve."

John McCain- "And it's going to be very expensive, and it's going to be long and hard and difficult."

John McCain- "There's going to be more wars."

John McCain's Wicked Huge Let Down

(Voting Period) Even before this election season hit off, I was hoping a for a McCain nomination. I have been a McCain fan ever since i looked into him. I had high hopes for him when he announced his candidacy for president again. I thought that this was his time!
I was quickly dissappointed though, and let me tell you why. John McCain quickly began to run a very dirty campaign that was fueled on bias, twisted words, and straight lies not straight talk.
Mitt took the first swing with his anti-mccain ads, but McCain took it to a WHOLE new level. As Romney turned on the heat and McCain's lead seemed threatened, McCain sky-dived of the high road and sold his soul for the nomination. He began telling blunt lies and attacking Romney's character, not just his politics. In Florida, for example, the primary was coming up quickly and Romney was neck and neck with McCain. In some polls even ahead. Losing florida wouldve been a big blunder for McCain and so he crossed the line. McCa

Obama should have accepted McCain's request for town-hall debates

(Voting Period) I argue that Senator Obama should have accepted Senator McCain's general request for town-hall debates.

Seemingly, one could argue that the role of government (and of course Obama and McCain are vying for its top spot) is to do what is best for its country/society. Therefore, what must be determined is how one figures out what is indeed best for the country. There are often many opposing viewpoints provided by numerous people and parties. However, for the government to truly determine what is best, collectively, debate and argumentation must be pursued.

Thus, because of the declination of the pursuit of truth via these debates, Obama is seemingly in error (on this issue).

For additional background regarding McCain's proposal and Obama's declination, see the below sources.

(Voting Period) This is 4 rounds so that both sides have a chance to give an opening statement before debating.

John McCain and George W. Bush... What can I say?
Both in love with the Iraq War? Check.
Both infringe our freedoms? Check.
Both treated better because of their fathers? Check. (McCain wasn't killed off as a P.O.W. because his captors knew his father was a high-ranking officer)
Both will be/are complained about but still voted for? Check.
Both have/will run the country on fear? Check.

I will not compare them both being republican because they are the most liberal republicans ever.

Senator Mccain does not qualify to be president

(Voting Period) I am reposting this debate as I find it interesting and the last person bailed.

As much of an open Obama supporter that I am, I also vehemently support Senator Mccain. In an election between any other democrat in the field and Mccain, I would probably vote for Mccain. I say this not to pander but to show my bias. As much as I like Senator Mccain, I do not believe he qualifies to be president, legally.

My argument has only one main part and I would be happy if someone can convince me that I am wrong as I truly do like Mccain and I would like justification to vote for him. Before we debate I will not try to spin this debate by defining certain terms to my advantage like SOME members here do. I prefer a "layperson's" debate where we debate substance and we don't just debate on who can throw out the most jargon and get the most "intellectual" or "philosophical".

(Voting Period) I'm glad that I can say this with conviction. McCain will not be president. He's like Bush all over again. Except that "I'm moderate" story isn't going to work for McCain. Conservatives AND Liberals don't like him. Even Ann Coulter said she'd vote for Hillary or Obama over McCain. Not to mention the president's 30% apporval rating and the so unpopular war in Iraq which McCain wants to keep for as long as it takes (and I quote, "maybe 100 years").

Resolved: McCain won't be the next president of the United States.

(Voting Period) I have been waiting to debate the great solarman for a long time and I have decided to make my move. Solarman supports the neo-conservatives, which are nothing more than confused republicans that are anything BUT conservative. They are not conservative on social policy. Conservatism would logically mean to keep the government OUT of people's lives. Bush, the Huckster, Romney, and McCain are not socially conservative. They support the War on Drugs, which is a billion dollar a week waste of capital that does anything BUT stay out of people's lives, and does anything BUT keep the government small and avoid wasteful spending. The WoD does NOT do a DAMN thing good for our country. They support the War on Terror, which is extremely expensive and wasteful and does not reduce terrorism abroad or at home. 9/11 was an isolated incident and the only thing that helped keep those attacks from happening again was increasing our airline security AT HOME. Conservatism would lo

McCain is not a conservative

(Voting Period) John McCain is not a conservative and should barely be considered a republican. I'm so sick of him crying out for my support just because he has an R after his name. McCain is continually and extremely liberal on all of the major issues that conservatives care about with the exception of life.

On amnesty, McCain-Kennedy took one of the most liberal positions possible on the issue, allowing over 20 million illegal immigrants safe passage to easy citizenship.

On tax cuts, McCain is the only Republican running not for making the Bush tax cuts permanent. He has also voted to raise taxes numerous times and is in favor of keeping the death tax.

These are just a few examples. Whether or not you agree with conservatives is not the question. I just want to know how McCain can justify appealing to conservatives on anything more than the 'lesser of two evils' plea.

(Voting Period) Now that Senator John McCain has basically secured his nomination as the Republican Party's nominee for the 2008 Presidential election, he has a lot of work a head of him. He has to unify not only the country behind him, but his own party! I'm a very conservative Republican; the epitome of the Party's base. I refuse to cast a vote for John McCain. Except mildly on terror, he doesn't reflect the Party's views. He is constantly compromising his "conservative" views and values in Congress and the legislation he's created and helped pass do not support his claim as a conservative. Our party would be far better off if Senator Hillary Clinton were to be elected. If she wins, her outrageous proposals, especially withdrawal of troops from Iraq will prove to have catastrophic results. This will prove that she, just as her husband was on terror, a failure. Come 2012 the Republican Party will sweep back into both the executive and legislative branches for at least another

The Huckabee-McCain Alliance

(Voting Period) Mike Huckabee and John McCain are in political cahoots. Thats right, cahoots.

Huckabee has stayed in the race in order to ensure a McCain nomination. While other candidates have dropped out in better circumstances, Huckabee stays in to split the base and draw votes from Romney. This has allowed McCain the victory on super tuesday and to become the heir-apparent to the nomination.

McCain and Huckabee each have a personal despise for Romney and have worked togehter to ensure he doesn't get nominated. Despite the backlash of many Republicans, Huckabee has assured voters that he will stay in. Even with an exceptionally suprising showing on tuesday, Huckabee still stands NO chance of winning the nomination and has stayed in as a mere attempt to gain the VP spot on McCain's ticket.

This alliance is seedy and backhanded. Not to quote Romney to closely, but this is the same old Washington tricks that we have seen from people like the Clintons. Its pretty shame

(Post Voting Period) John McCain's proposed plans for taxes, healthcare, Iraq War, and entitlements will ultimately be detrimental for all persons who make less than $250,000. In effect the totality of John McCain's planned agenda for the USA will erode the middle-class by redistributing more wealth to the top 1-5% of America. His plans for taxes, healthcare, Iraq War, and entitlements are the components to this end.

I will allow my opponent to make his statement first. Giving reason's as to how McCain's plans for taxes, healthcare, Iraq War, and entitlements (Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, etc...) will actually benefit the middle class and not just the top 1-5% of the population.
