Death penalty is the best way

(Post Voting Period) Death penalty is the best way to the society.! It is one of the first main argument!
But the guiltiness should be proved!!! why guilty people sit in prison and suffer for a whole life, while they can suffer few minutes or hours. It is the best way to all around!!!!!!
do not enter the laws and rules... many countries avoid it!!
What You will choose... to yourself, to other people???? which way is better alternative?

death penalty should be abolish

(Post Voting Period) I think that death penalty is too cruel. In spite of the fact that somebody kills someone it does not matter that our society has rights to kill too. It means that we are murderers too. I believe that istead of death penalty it's better to give them life sentence. Because life without freedom, it is the worst think in our life. Also, we knew such situations were suffered innocent people and it is awful. That's why, before talk about every kind of death penalty, we must think about the meaning and the reason of this punishment.

There should be a death penalty for murderers

(Post Voting Period) There should be a death penalty for murderers to deter future murders. The death penalty would deter some future murders because some people who want to commit murder won't do it because they know that they will get killed if they do so. Studies have shown that it deters crime. Most criminals don't want to die. The death penalty should be done in a painful, harsh way so that it would be more likely to deter crime. Some People will be scared to commit murder if the death penalty is done by getting shot with a gun.

Should the Death Penalty be Legalized in Every State of the USA?

(Post Voting Period) I feel as though the death penalty should be legalized in every state in the USA; if someone takes the life of another person (and gets caught), then they should not have the right to continue living on (assuming that their reasons for doing so were NOT life and death for them). You take a life, you lose yours. Simple, plus it'd save on the cost of jailing them for life, so it's better for the economy, too.

Life without parole is worse than the death penalty.

(Post Voting Period) Life without parole ultimately fails at both of its aims:
-To be merciful (compared to the death penalty) - it keeps people locked up for the rest of their lives, knowing that they will never leave, but does not allow them to remove themselves from the situation, i.e. commit suicide. They will eventually die, and the state will not be sad, but they will have to wait a very long time for it.
-To be harsh - It is not as "scary" as the death penalty and appears, to most people, to be a benign punishment in comparison. In this way, it is weak, especially because it fails to be an effective deterrent to crime (even compared to the death penalty, whose effect on crime appears lackluster).

Life without parole falls between two extremes, mercy and harshness, and ultimately fails at reaching either of them. The death penalty, in contrast, is more scary - and thus warns criminals a little better - but isn't as torturous.

(As a side note, I don't support the death

Should there be a death penalty in Canada?

(Post Voting Period) My first debate that I've started! My question: Should there be a death penalty in Cananda? First off, I would like to set some rules:
1. Round 1 is for acceptence and the rest of the rounds are for your argument. Round 5 can be for your conclusion.
2. Be friendly! I will try not to offend anyone who accepts my challenge and I will try not to take offense to whatever you may say. If I offend you in any way please tell me in a formal manner so I can apoligize and not make the same mistake twice.
3. Although this is a serious matter please don't be too formal. Lets have some fun with this guys! (3
4. Please be patient! As I said, I am new to this and don't fully know what I am doing. Also please don't take too long to update because I have a tight schedule, being in high school and such.

To clear up any confusion I am for the death penalty in Canada
(pro).Anyone wishing to take my challenge will be against it(con). Thanks! XD

Why should there be a death penalty?

(Post Voting Period) I am going to debate about why there should be death penalty. Personally I am pro for this topic.
The main reasons why I believe in death penalty is because-
No one who ever received the death penalty ever killed or committed a capital crime again.Life without parole, or any other sentence, is known to be less effective in protecting future victims than the Death penalty.
Another important reason is the high costs of keeping prison inmates . On average it costs about $10,000-$20,000 on keeping a single prison inmate per year, this in turn, puts a burden on the finances of the government.
It is also a good method to keep people in check. As death penalty teaches people to not mess with the law. :)

The death penalty should be abolished

(Post Voting Period) I would like pro to argue first—I dunno, I like that setup better—and the BOP on PRO. I hold that, on balance in the US, I am for the status quo. And I am con, and pro usually gets the burden.

[--Definitions--]

Death Penalty -- "Capital punishment or the death penalty is a legal process whereby a person is put to death by the state as a punishment for [murder]."[1]

Abolished -- Formally put to an end—in this case legally.

Should -- ought

NO SEMANTICS OR TROLLING, BOP AND THE DEFINITIONS ARE NOT UP FOR DEBATE.

Remember, pro starts. Proceed.

Resolved: The Death Penalty Should be Removed

(Post Voting Period) Justification through economical, moral, political and/or legal are all legitimate, regardless of if both opponents argue differently (I may argue through legal and moral while my opponent justifies through economical and political for example). Thus both parties involved may choose what they will justify through what means.

Death penalty: "Capital punishment, the death penalty, death sentence, or execution is a legal process whereby a person is put to death by the state as a punishment for a crime." [1]

Sources: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capital_punishment

Round 1 my opponent states her case, she has BOP. Due to me not being able to post in round one (due to laying out conditions within debate) she may only post a 1-3 line rhetorical statement within round 4 with a goodbye of her choosing (will not count as a line against her)
No semantics, or ad hominem.

(Post Voting Period)
As Con, I shall argue against the legalization of the death penalty. Pro shall argue for the death penalty's legalization.

Death penalty shall be defined as the killing of a person by judicial process as a punishment for an offense. The judicial process specified in this debate shall be the United States' judicial process, court proceedings. This also means our arguments are placed against the backdrop of United States' law.

First round is simply acceptance.
