That Pennies Should Be Abolished

(Debating Period)
The purpose of currency is to facilitate the exchange of goods and services by providing a good with an agreed upon value that can be traded for a multitude of other goods. As Pro in this debate I will argue that pennies are failing to fulfil this purpose.
The context of this debate is present day United States. For this debate "penny" refers to the one-cent-coin.
The model I am proposing is that the US mint simply stops producing any more pennies. All pennies currently in circulation are to remain as legal tender. However, after their expenditure shops are to send their pennies back to the US mint where they will be melted down. This means that the supply of pennies will gradually decrease. Price transactions are to be rounded to the nearest five cents.
Rules
The opening round is for acceptance only. I will give the Pro case in the second round.
Standard debating rules apply, they are as follows:
Essential services should be socialized, and privatized services should be regulated.

(Debating Period) I will begin by offering 3 main premises for my argument.

1. Most essential services that all human beings are entitled to as members of society should be socialized. Socialized, meaning owned and operated by the community as a whole, whether that means through the Government, or by general worker consensus. Essential services include healthcare, education, food/housing for the poor, roads, public transit, etc.

I am now ready to hear from my opponent.
2. Other services (As in, cell phones, TV, internet, food/housing for the well-off, cars, computers, etc.) should be run in a Capitalist manner. Capitalism, meaning private individuals and businesses own the means of production, and they compete within a marketplace.

3. The Government must regulate the services described in premise #2. Regulate, as in ensure the businesses providing those services do not defraud their workers, do not harm the environment, do not form monopolies, etc.

(Debating Period)
Hello I am new and this will be my first debate here.
Statement: A Resource Based Economy is a better system than Free Markets in the long run.
PRO will agrue why a Resource Based Economy is better in the long run.
CON will argue why a Free Market Economy is better in the long run.

Definition:
Resource Based Economy is an economic system where currency/money is no longer used and the entire earth and its resources become a common heritage of all humans.
All human beings have equal access to all resources and necessities of life.

Round 1-Acceptance

Goodluck!

Are some corporations too big to fail?

(Post Voting Period) Big corporations are always interconnected with other companies and banks. For example, AIG was too global and too interconnected to let fail. AIG owns a share of companies in over five different countries. In China AIG owns 20% of PICC (people"s insurance company of china), which is China"s largest insurer of causality insurance. It also owns a controlling share of Beijing Panam International Aviation Academy. Which is the largest privately owned flight training school in China. AIG owns more companies in Japan, Indonesia, Pakistan, United Kingdom, and also USA. With over 15 different companies in USA alone, AIG was too big to be left to fail. Thus the government had to step in 2008 and give a $85 billion Federal Reserve loan to AIG.

With the ongoing world of technology, a lot of major companies rely on other companies in the world of technology. Many people may not know that such companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Disney, Apple, Facebook, Google, AOL, Twit

Changing gas prices accordingly to citizen travel frequency

(Post Voting Period)
It is clearly obvious that there is a commonplace issue with gas prices. Undoubtedly, drivers are always unsettled to the price per-gallon of gas they have to pay when stopping to refuel. For this reason there is controversy over gas price regulation. However, gas prices should be regulated accordingly to citizen seasonal travels.

Let us say that we have gas prices decreased during the most obvious vaccination seasons, like summer. During the summer, average Americans go on tours and vacate long distances. For this reason, it should reasonable as to why a gas price should be changed accordingly. I am not certain whether or not the price should increase or decrease on the matter, but I am stating that the prices must be changed according to citizen travels. Determining whether a person travel

It also makes noise that is not quiet, and how would you like to see out to your back yard and see this huge windmills.

The United States should establish a living wage

(Post Voting Period)
Hello all! Today we will be debating whether the United States should establish a living wage.
A living wage is a minimum wage that is above poverty and can sustain a person. Theoretically, different families and workers have different living wages. For example, I would set the living wage for one person sustaining only themselves at nine dollars and twenty cents. It would be higher for supporting kids, or a wife, or a husband, etc etc.

So, I will be saying this raise in minimum wage is good, you will be saying it is bad.

Seventy two hours to vote, eight thousand characters, five rounds!

Formalities
Round 1-Acceptance
Round 2-Arguments with no clash
Round 3-Refutation
Round 4-Counter refutation
Round 5-Conclusion

is there an alternative for prison

(Post Voting Period) why should we give the heartless people in this world any other option but prison? Prison is the only way of ensuring that criminals are taken out of circulation. Alternatives to prison, by their very nature, are riskier. The offender is, after all, still 'on the street', and the public are still at risk of re offending the offender. also,Prison is an immediate, easily understood punishment. Following the sentence, the convicted criminal is immediately escorted out of the courtroom, placed in the prison van and to be taken behind the high walls of the prison. No other sentence is seen to have this immediacy. why would you want to risk the person escaping because action was taken right then and there.
