President Obama is bad 4 the US

(Voting Period) I am in strong affirmation that, President Obama is bad 4 the United States of America. President obama is a hypocrite he cast blame on big spenders saying there to blame 4 the economic situation. Then he has a 6 million dollar party when he takes office. He will not salute the flag of the united states cause he says there is no opportunity in America but after 2 generations the obamas have come from nothing to the most influential black family in the world. Obama has little experience and his stimulus package is garbage and will hurt our already crippled economy.

Obama will not be our next President

(Voting Period) Obama will not be our next President. I have three arguments for this stance on this debate.

1.RACE-Unfortunately America is not ready for a African American President. Racism is not far enough in our past yet. I am a Union member. Out of the twenty seven people I work with there are three Republicans, including myself. The "dems" I work with were split, twenty for Clinton, four for Obama. When Clinton lost the nomination twenty of the "Dems" said they would NOT vote for Obama. Race was the main factor in this swing but the flag and his Pastor were also included in there switch. At least in the white blue collared class it would be safe to say this is a common trend.

2.Division-The Democratic Party has developed deep division in this once honorable Party. With the Sixties brought Liberal ideas and the Democratic Party was quick to pick these votes up. In doing so they alienated there Party, but bonds are hard to break and the blue collar "dems" were and a

The Obama Care bill should NOT have been passed

(Post Voting Period) I would like to say a few words here before starting my opening argument.
I respectfully request that only an American Citizen please join this debate on the 'con' side. I have nothing against view points from other countries on health care, but with a bill where American tax dollars are being used, I find it to be a more honest debate between two citizens directly effected. If I could have, I would have voted No to this bill and look forward to debating with someone who would have voted yes. (http://www.examiner.com/x-12837-US-Headlines-Examiner~y2009m8d10-Health-care-bill-HR-3200-read-it-online-now) Thank you.

On to the topic:

My contention is that the health care system in America is and has been broken for quite some time now. It is an important topic but not more important than our economy, jobs, etc. This bill was very politically motivated and rushed though without getting all the facts ahead of time. It is a simple case of throwing money after

Obama would be dangerous as president of the United States.

(Voting Period) Forget whether going to war with Iraq was the right or wrong decision, do you really think pulling out all our troops within 90 days is a good idea? The ramifications of pulling out would be TERRRIBLE. how can you not see that? We not only have a militaristic obligation, but a MORAL obligation as a country to finish what we started. Not only due we owe it to the Iraqi people, but WE OWE IT TO OUR SOLDIERS WHO SACRIFICED THEIR LIVES IN THIS WAR. The surge is working, political reconciliation is happening, yet Obama refuses to accept it. Pulling out of Iraq would lead to a civil war like we've never seen before. Think the killing fields in Cambodia after we left Vietnam.

What about Obama's connections with multiple controversial people? I'm not trying to use the "guilt by association" argument to attack Barack, but it is very interesting to me that he has been connected with so many controversial and dangerous people. Does the name Bill Ayers ring a bell? He

(Post Voting Period) I believe Barrack hussaine Obama has ruined our country.
He gave us a dept, wants socialist medicare system that will make everyone poor, and he stopped guantanimo bay so we get no more information.
He is also appointing czars in office, hes trying to make us communist.
Who doesnt know that.
We should appoint Glenn Beck In office also, but thats another arguement.

(Voting Period) Some people claim that the above is true.

I don't get it.

Barack Obama - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barack_Obama
great - used as a generalized term of [overall] approval (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/great)
leader - a person who has commanding authority or influence (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/leader)
speech - a usually public discourse
promise - to pledge to do, bring about, or provide (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/promise[2])
hope - desire accompanied by expectation of or belief in fulfillment (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/hope[2])
change - TRANSFORMATION (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/change[2])

I don't see the connection. I'll let CON point it out in the first round.

obama's got enough experience

(Voting Period) figured this should be addressed in its own thread. since it's important.
onea those "obama's a a nazi, the antichrist, a muslim in kahoots with bin laden" things that need addressed. well, the argument about experience has some merit more than that, but definitely not as much as most people think.

1. Theodore Roosevelt (42)
2. John F. Kennedy (43)
3. Bill Clinton (46)
4. Ulysses S. Grant (46)
5. Grover Cleveland (47)
6. Franklin Pierce (48)
7. James A. Garfield (49)
8. James K. Polk (49)
9. Millard Fillmore (50)
10. John Tyler (51)

first to dispell a myth, obama's not the yongest ever etc. here's the ten youngest presidents. obama's not even in the top five. and close to even the tenth in years. as far as age goes, he's old enough, not just techincally legally, but for practical purposes too. put smarts in there for fast learner etc, he's surely just as good as number 11 etc.

for example, for experience,,, he's been in politics just as long

(Voting Period) the burden on the Aff. is to prove that obama is the correct choice for presidency by the American people correct will be defined as best or right choice shall be election and American people will be citizens of the U.S. which he cannot due because all barrack HUSSEIN obama has done is talk literally what has he actually done except for trying to get soldiers out of Iraq which he failed miserably and tried to get health care, what has he actually done for the united states, nothing because he has been too busy going around the world once or twice or maybe even thrice and also please look at the sites below also he cannot prove that obama was the correct choice because he was not elected by the people to be the democratic runner up for president he was chosen by the super delegates

Barack Obama is not qualified to be the next president of the US.

(Voting Period) From what I have read about Sen. Barack Obama, I've come to the conclusion that he is NOT ready to lead a country, much less the country with the most powerul military in the world. I mean, think about it! Take Barack Obama, a two-year senator. Then add the most powerful military force in the world. Use your imagination. This is the guy that said the US should invade its ALLY Pakistan. This is the guy that talks about hope, unity, and a whole bunch of other bullocks when he can't back them up with policies that make the least bit of sense.

Earlier today I heard Obama say that the US should get its troops out if Iraq as soon as possible, and if al-Qaeda poses a serious threat, the US will go back in. Pardon the language, but, what the fudge are you thinking, Mr. Obama? al-Qaeda is IN Iraq and they pose a serious threat, combined with Iranian-sponsored forces (yes, I said IRANIAN-sponsored). And the only reason they aren't completely decimating the US is beca

Barack Obama is too inexperienced to be president

(Voting Period) Hello potential debaters,

I believe that Barack Obama is too inexperienced to be president. Here are my reasons:

1) He has only been a senator for just under 3 YEARS. That isn't enough time to become qualified. His fellow senators running have had a minimum of 6 years in office. The candidate that was in office for 6 years was John Edwards, who didn't run for relection since he was running for vice president. Also, Hilary has been in office for 7 years and most of the others , 11+ years.

2) He isn't proven to be a true leader. The last 8 presidents were either Governors or vice presidents. Also, 1 of the last 12 presidents were either a Vice President or governor. There is one exception, Dwight Eisenhower, who was a general. This is making him historically unqualified.

He is using his inexperience to persuade people's minds. The big example is when he says he never supported the Iraq War from the beginning. He wasn't even a senator when congress vot

Barack Obama should not disarm the general American public of their guns.

(Voting Period) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifEg1aq6Emo

Barack Obama clearly does not like the idea of Americans wielding guns. However, there are three reasons why this should not be done.

1. It is unconstitutional.
The second Bill of Rights amendment:
"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution#Text

2. It hurts the innocent more than the criminals.
People go hunting with guns all of the time. People protect themselves with guns all of the time. People also rob others with guns all of the time. The former two groups are innocent. The latter group is criminal. The innocent people would be hurt by any sort of gun control, and would not to wish to have to break a law just to enjoy a hunting trip, or feel more safe. Criminals, on the other hand, are already breaking the law, so they

Barack Obama is the best choice for '08 president

(Voting Period) Barack is the best choice for president in the upcoming year. This can be easily illustrated by looking at his economic, foreign, and social policies.

First off economic. In 2007 Obama stated that he supported "merit pay" for our teachers. For those of you unfamiliar with Merit Pay it is the concept of paying people at how effective they are at there job. This would encourage teachers to help their students that are having problems, dedicate themselves to the school, and ultimatly get rid of any ineffective teachers.

Obama also voted in favor fo the BioFeuls Security Act in 2007. This is a bill that calls for the cease of production of single-fuel vehicles in 2016, making our automobile market purely hybrid. Obama doesn't just support the health of our biosphere though, he's also interested in the health of the American people, fully in favor of universal health care.

Obama is against favoring the rich in tax cuts too, not wanting to make these estate

Barack Obama is irrational.

(Voting Period) One of Barack Obama's main rallying cries is that Washington is broken, that John McCain and Hillary Clinton have been part of the problem, not the solution. But the only thing Obama will do is expand Washington's power and control like WE'VE NEVER SEEN IN OUR 200+ YEARS AS A COUNTRY (with exception to the New Deal, from the socialist democrat darling FDR). Through nationalized health care, increasing taxes, environmental protectionism, business and corporate regulation, and more bureaucracy, Obama's future plan for Washington makes no sense at all with his original claim. If Washington is the problem and we need change, expanding Washington's power and control is the exact opposite solution that we need. His stance makes no sense and is completely irrational.

Barack Obama would NOT be the first black president.

(Voting Period) "Barack Obama would be the great black hope in the next presidential race -- if he were actually black."

~Debra J. Dickerson~

Barack Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii to Barack Obama, Sr. (born in Nyanza Province, Kenya)and Ann Dunham, a white American (born in Wichita, Kansas).

Now, let me make it clear that I am not opposed to having an African-American president, but I will give credit when credit is due.

Being of mixed ethnicity, white mother and black father, Barack Obama is riding the benefits of playing the "race card" through the early rounds of the 2008 presidential campaign trail.

Why is it OK when he considers himself black? Is he not also white? Why does he not choose to say he is white? Both would be biologically correct.

Elements to dispute:

1) Barack Obama is of mixed ethnicity, thus he should neither consider himself a black American or a white American.

2) To be politically correct and honorabley ancestrial, Barack

Obama has botched the recovery

(Post Voting Period) The full resolution is, "President Obama and the Democrats in Congress could have adopted different laws and policies to lead the United States into a more effective economic recovery."

This challenge is intended for an experienced debater; please do not accept the challenge if you are new to debating. This is a difficult resolution because it covers so much ground.

I contend:

1. The economic stimulus package was a failure. According to Obama Adviser Christina Romer, if it were passed unemployment would not exceed 8%, and by now it would be reduced to 7%. http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/114753-frank-obama-admin-dumb-to-predict-no-higher-than-8-unemployment Unemployment went over 10% and is now around 9.5%. It was supposed to build transportation infrastructure, but only 3.3% of it was spent on that. Most of the money went to bailing out states whose rampant spending, much of it going to employing overpaid government workers whose unio
