I walk down the street every day, and through my school every day, and I hardly see any overweight people at all. Sure, there are some kids who could do with a diet, but that doesn't make all of America fat. Does it?

There you are, next to a wall. It has recently been painted and is unset (apparently) and you're wondering whether it's actually wet, so you test it out. You touch the wall to see if it is.

Are you out of your mind?

Getting your hands all mucky with wet paint is something you want to avoid. So, why touch the wall? If it's wet, then you look like a doofus because now you've got wet paint on your hand. If it's not wet, then you look like a doofus because in anyone else's eyes, you've just randomly decided to touch a wall.

I understand that this ludicrous scenario is fairly common, but I propose that anyone who touches a wall to see if the paint is dry is mentally insane and should therefore be put into a mental institution.

So that's what I'd like to debate today. I hope for a good debate.

The full resolution for this debate is as follows: "In standard Chess, the one who plays White has an inherent advantage over the one who plays Black."

II. Definitions

Inherent: existing necessarily as a property of a thing or phenomenon.

Advantage: any state, circumstance, or opportunity that is favorable or beneficial in achieving a desired end.

"The one who plays White" is the player in control of the white pieces (occasionally hereafter referred to simply as "White" while his/her opponent sometimes referred to as "Black"). White is the one who, by standard Chess rules, makes the first move.

Any other word not specifically defined will assume its most common dict

We should modify beaches to make the sand lower in density so that the obese sink.

There you are, sitting in your brand new deck chair with your robotic pet when all of a sudden this whale of a humanoid starts waddling along in a bikini that's three billion sizes too small. That's put you off food for a few years.

You wish you could get that chocolate-chasing boulder of blubber would get out of the way, because now you've forgotten what the sun even looks like. Is it square? Is it purple? Is it visibly in motion? You don't know. This crisp-crunching menace is blocking your view and has been doing said thing for about three years, because chocolate-chasers move about as fast as a dead tortoise.

In all that time you have to think, you get a great scientific and sophisticated idea! "Why not modify beaches to make the sand lower in density so that the obese sink?" You think to yourself. That would make everyone's life more pleasent.

(Post Voting Period) Batman is the obvious choice to win in this cage match. Batman has countless numbers of different skills and tools that will help to overcome the challenge of the t-Rex. Batman can protect a whole city, a t-Rex is not that big of an obstacle compared to bane for example. Batman will always prevail in this battle!

Many people on this site know about me and Danielle's same-sex parenting debate, in which she won by a large margin and I accused her of using dishonest arguments (lawyering, strawmen, etc) in order to gain victory.

I accuse her of avoiding the resolution, misinterpreting my arguments, lying about my burden of proof, repeating arguments that had no bearing on the debate, and assigning absurd burdens of proof on things that should require none. I think this argument should be about why evolution is the wrong idea. my argument is that evolution is wrong because God created us and I am against what other people think. we get the wrong idea of how we are made and we say what what other people thought. it is wrong to say that we are made from monkeys and that the earth is billions of years old. the bible even solves the question before the argument is raised and I quote "In the beginning God" and that's all you need to know. In the beginning God created us, crafted us, made the earth, and everything else in our universe. but people look to the answer and say that its too simple we need something that makes sense. the problem is the sense is right in front of them and they pass on and keep looking. my argument is that god made us and everything anyone else says is not in my life.
