Human activity is adversely affecting the environment & having a negative impact on humankind

The evidence of human activity damaging our own habitat, the Earth, is based on sound, credible science. This includes, but not limited to, climate change. The denials are based on economic interests of businesses, particularly, but not limited to, oil industry, with similar tactics and motives used by tobacco industry (whom denied the health problems associated with tobacco use). The denials of scientific findings are motivated by money; with the intent to alter public opinion and maintain t...
You should be allowed to bump people with your car.

Have you ever been driving down the road and a group of people are standing in the middle of the road? They see you coming, they see you getting closer and closer yet they just sit there with some dumb look on their face. Some times they are riding bikes and swerve like they are going to turn in front of you and other times they just stand their ground, flip you off or yell some obscenity at you as you are forced to drive around them. I think you should be able to run into them to teach them a l...
R: It is morally permissible to kill one innocent person to save the lives of many innocent people.

"It is the greatest good to the greatest number of people which is the measure of right and wrong." It's because that I agree with this quote by Jeremy Bentham that I urge an affirmation of the resolution. "It is morally permissible to kill one innocent person to save the lives of many innocent people." [Definitions] For clarity I pose the following definitions. 1. Morally permissible: conforming to a circumstantial standard of right behavior. 2. More: a larger quantitative amount...
obama's got enough experience
figured this should be addressed in its own thread. since it's important. onea those "obama's a a nazi, the antichrist, a muslim in kahoots with bin laden" things that need addressed. well, the argument about experience has some merit more than that, but definitely not as much as most people think. 1. Theodore Roosevelt (42) 2. John F. Kennedy (43) 3. Bill Clinton (46) 4. Ulysses S. Grant (46) 5. Grover Cleveland (47) 6. Franklin Pierce (48) 7. James A. Garfield (49) 8. James K. Polk...

Debate.org has not changed.

I have been visiting this site for some time. In the beginning of my visits, many notices were posted by debate.org that big changes were coming both new and exciting. Looks the same to me, no different nothing exciting a big let down if you ask me....
An eye for an eye will make the whole world go blind.

As you can see, this debate is 5 rounds. In the first round, we will present our ideas on the topic and then in the following 4 rounds we will debate and contradict each other's notions. So if all goes as planned, we will each get a normal 4 rounds to debate. Since I am speaking against the topic and you are in favour, I think you should be starting....
Global warming in not a ridiculous theory
There is a large amount of evidence to suggest that global warming not just a ridiculous theory. Certainly there are a good many people who choose not to believe it because of their politics, because it's not in their economic interest to do so, or because they'd rather not have to change anything. Unfortunately, nature doesn't care about our petty affairs. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to show that global warming is a ridiculous theory, perhaps just a figment of someone...
Coca~Cola is better than Pepsi.
Coca-Cola is by far better than Pepsi. Here's 10 reasons why. 1. You can buy stuff with the caps. 2. They support the Olympics. 3. They support local sports. 4. It tastes better. 'Nuff said. 5. More people like Coca-Cola than Pepsi. 6. The Coca-Cola Company owns other things like Sprite, Minute Maid, and Vault. 7. Coca-Cola is better. 8. Pepsi tastes funky. 9. I ran out of things to say. 10. I already told you....
obama... just as much if not more merit, against the surge and for troops in afghanistan
the position is being compared to mccain's. there was an addition in 20000 troops to iraq, to make it 1.8 or so instead of 1.6 hundred thousand troops. the iraqi government was already, before the surge, coalescing its own troops. 20,000 troops is negligible given the overall number already there, and the force the iraqis were forming and had. that the generals in iraq wants more troops, only shows they want to win there, and hte better way to win is to have more troops. but the...
