About Me:I'm a full-blooded Italian aries from NYC; very passionate and headstrong. At Rutgers University I studied Labor Studies and Employment Relations (law, human resources and business management) with concentrations in philosophy and political science. I recently became interested in economics and physics (time and space in particular) which I research in my free time. I like to chill out, pull bongs, hang out with my friends, go for drinks, etc. I'd like to think that I'm a well-rounded individual. Most of all, I like spending time with the love of my life :)
Activities:I like to learn, read, write, jet ski, try new things, travel, listen to/play/write music, watch/play sports, go to the beach/movies/museums, engage in thought-provoking conversation, make money, play video games, etc.
Beliefs:Regarding politics, my beliefs are socially progressive and economically moderate. I'm a feminist, political activist, marijuana enthusiast and a secular humanist who stands in firm affirmation against the concept of free will. I support the spiritual (and legal) use of entheogens, and I'm a rationalist who upholds that logic, reason, mathematics and science can accurately describe the universe. I'm interested in panentheism though I'm interested in a lot of things. I agree with Einstein that if a deity exists, it is a God who reveals himself in the orderly harmony of what exists, and not one who concerns himself with the fates and actions of human beings.
Books:I enjoy the classics, philosophical works, memoirs, coffee table books, fluff beach reading, poetry, books about physics and political non-fiction.
Movies:Almost Famous, American Beauty, Blow, Closer, Eternal Sunshine, Garden State, Goodfellas, I Heart Huckabees, Requiem for a Dream, Resident Evil 1-3, The Dark Knight, The Matrix, The Nightmare Before Xmas, Vertigo
Music:Adele, Amy Winehouse, Bitter:Sweet, Bob Marley, Citizen Cope, Daft Punk, Etta James, Frank Sinatra, Lauryn Hill, Led Zeppelin, Madonna, Massive Attack, Miles Davis, Muse, NIN, Notorious BIG, Phish, Pink Floyd, Portishead, Rilo Kiley, Rodrigo Y Gabriela, Sublime, Supreme Beings of Leisure, System of a Down, The Beatles, The Shins, The Strokes, Thievery Corp, Tool, Zero 7
Quotes:"I inhaled - frequently. That was the point."
-- Barack Obama

"Once made equal to man, woman becomes his superior."
-- Socrates

"Convictions are more dangerous foes of truth than lies."
-- Friedrich Nietzsche
Sports Teams:I like Italian soccer and EVERY NEW YORK TEAM.
TV Shows:CNN, ESPN, House, Sex and the City, The Boondocks, The L Word, Weeds

Conscientious objectors should be obliged to make the same sacrifices as conscripted soldiers

The leader of one nation to another: "You should, like, chill out, man. Instead of invading my country, why not light an ethically-sourced soy-wax scented candle, make a nice cup of organic Fairtrade jasmine tea and attain inner peace through holistic meditation? Because killing people is like wrong, you know, and war is like really bad and that." I think we can all sympathise with the appeal from a pacifist head of state to an evil, psychopathic tyrant to stop his warmongering ways and get i...

Gun control

On November 5, 2009, Nidal Malik Hasan opened fire at Fort Hood Soldier Readiness center, killing 13 people and wounding 30 others. He used an FN Five-seveN semi-automatic pistol, which, according to wikipedia, is used by SWAT teams because of their effectiveness against body armor. Why would any civilian need that? Now, Mr. Hasan did happen to be in the military, but he did not receive his gun from the military. He bought it legally at a civilian gun store. What that means is that any one of us...

Were the colonists justified in revolting against the British?

Marshall
theLwerd

The colonists were justified in revolting against the british. If the colonists wanted to revolt that was their choice. The british were unlawfully taxing the colonists. The stamp act, tea act and other acts was only the top of the dung heap. The colonists didn't even have representation in the english government which means not one colonists has a say in the government. NO TAXATION WITH OUT REPRESENTATION. Also the brits had no right making the colonists pay for taxes of the French Indian War....
