Why can't I choose Fred Thompson as a candidate I support?

SolaGratia

It is ludicrous that I am unable to select Fred Thompson as my candidate for the 2008 election; especially when unknowns like Duncan Hunter, Tom Tancredo, Sam Brownback and Tommy Thompson (who both pulled out of the race months ago) are included in the list. By all accounts Fred Thompson is beating John McCain and Ron Paul, both of whom are on the list, in the polls, and he isn't that far behind the three-way tie for first between Huckabee, Romney, and Giuliani. This should be remedied. I have s...

George W. Bush is a good president.

nerdyandnotsoproud

Hi, I think George W. Bush (our current president as of Dec. 6, 2007) is a good president. He may not have been the most articulate or intellectual individual elected as president, but nonetheless he has made a genuine effort to better the world we live in. Today, so many Americans blindly oppose Bush without ever paying the slightest attention to the matter on hand. They don't really understand the concepts, yet they argue against him since so many others are. I think it's safe to say that a ma...

gay marriage: ya, another one

wingnut2280

I am against gay marriage. I have no social issues with gay people being together. I don't argue the church-gay conflict. My position is an economic one. The effect on our social programs would be devastating. Without getting into to much detail now, I don't see how someone could argue that gay marriage would not have a harmful effect on our already crippled government benefit systems....

Circumsicion is necessary and ethical.

buletman

I believe that circumcision is genital mutilation. It has been shown that it is an effective way to prevent certain diseases, but proper hygiene is just as effective. So this then leads me to ask why take away a male's foreskin before he is even allowed to make the decision himself? He will never know what it was like to have those nerve endings, never know what it's like to have a non-mutilated penis. Circumcision on males does not create impotence, so what is the matter with having a few le...

Vegetarianism

iq_two

I am a vegetarian, and in looking at people's profiles I noticed that a lot of people seem to be against vegetarianism. Would someone who is against it please debate me on this and explain why? I don't understand how you can be against people choosing not to eat animals....

Debate.org is an extremly flawed site

JoeDSileo1988

In the Big Issues section of a profile the user is forced to pick one of two choices, In favor of or against. This is contrary to the nature of decision making. Topics this broad more often then not require a broader explanation of the decision. A more useful tool would be to have a sliding scale from 1-10, and a text box allowing the user to elaborate on their decision. The debate style is also restrictive. A single debate can have but one opponent. This is contrary to an online community. T...

"Abstinence-only" sex education has not been effective.

Maddy

The US, the only developed nation who still teaches abstinence only education, has the highest rate of teen pregnancy and abortion among developed nations. The effectiveness of sexual education can also be measured by the number of STDs and STIs, which is increasing....

I am God, and you do not exist.

Fenrir

Yes, that's right. Not only am I God, but you don't even exist. How can I support such a grand claim? Simple. First, the reason I am God. I use the term God somewhat loosely, but mean it to suggest that I am all powerful and all knowing, and I created the universe. I think that's close enough. So here's the deal: all of creation is the product of my subconsciousness. Everything I see, feel, touch, everything I sense, is a fabrication of my mind. While this may seem impossible, just think: all...

90% of the human brain hides talents such as future sight telekinesis and etc.

Joel_Asher
nerdyandnotsoproud

Humans only use 10 percent of their brain, this is proven. Some people are able to use very little more. But Those who can access a darker part of their brain are able to do things that most people are not. When logic, reasoning and what we were bred to think gets in the way and narrows the mind to a tunnel a person can not see the possibilities of what is possible. The universe is a grid. The world is also a grid and the lines on the grid are the rules such as gravity, motion and energy etc. So...
