humans are no longer evolving

dairygirl4u2c

we are not longer evolving signficantly as humans. true, people in africa and other poor, many religous fanatics die, but as a whole, we are adapting the environemnt to us, instead of it forcing us to adapt. remember, evolution is where the weak die and the only those that live to copulate further their genes. changes in specific animals doesn't cause evolution... you can't cut your thumb off and get your kids thumbless. (i'm sure there's minor deviations esepecially from radioactivity that c...

Assisted suicide/euthanasia should be legal

mindjob

In light of Jack Kevorkian speaking at my school tonight, I offer up this debate to anyone who wishes to take it on. Bottom line, physician-assisted suicide should be legal. It is absurd that anyone or any group should have the authority to tell someone else what they can and cannot do with their own life with regard to this issue. I believe it to be the height of arrogance that someone can feel as though they can enforce their morality on someone suffering from a terminal disease. The overly...

Agnosticism is the most logical belief in regards to the idea of a higher power.

Pricetag

My reasoning behind the aforementioned statement is simply this. We don't know and we can't know much of anything especially in terms of the existence of God. Don't get me wrong I highly doubt that he exists; however in regards to metaphysics it's hard to explain the world and universe as is if you're a theist or an atheist. Here is my logic: 1. There is suffering and there is suffering abundantly on earth, this truism casts huge doubt on the idea of an all-powerful, loving, caring God. 2....

Abortion ought to be legal in the United States.

Zasch

Hello :) I just wanted to take up the position that you were debating against, since I think my side has a somewhat better defence than was given. I think that most participants in the debate can agree that people ought not be wantonly killed. Thus, the question that seems most fundamental to the debate is "when does personhood begin"? After all, it is only personhood that matters - not "life" (As there are a great many things that are alive that most people have little qualms about destroyin...

Young people between the ages of 13-17 are able to make an argument that can be used in a debate.

Cindela

Before I start my debate, I would like to ask everyone who will eventually vote in this debate to vote based upon the debate, not upon your own opinions. Thank you. I first intended this debate for solaman1969, because of some of his debates and his strong belief, but he declined my challenge. I would like to open up this debate to anyone who wants to take up this debate. My argument is simple: I am 13 years old. I am representative of the younger end of the age range that I mentioned in t...

What is The RIGHT Solution to Fix the U.S. Healthcare Crisis???

Csavage472

Just to CLARIFY, the "standard" position by the leading Democratic contenders for the White House is essentially based on Michael Moore's compelling documentary, "SICKO!" The Democrats' proposal is as follows: "Health insurance should be provided for EVERYONE by the Federal Government just like Social Security is provided to everyone when they get to be a senior citizen--[i.e. a "Medicaid Card" for ALL]. In places like switzerland, health insurance is provided for everyone regardless of i...

Free Will is impossible to prove.

FreedomFighter123

It is impossible to prove that free will exists because we never make the same choice twice. Just a simple example. You walk into your kitchen. You make a pb&j, you can choose between Grape and Strawberry jelly, you choose grape. Now we assume you could have chose strawberry, but you didn't, so it's impossible to prove you could have....

Reprsentation by population is not the best form of democracy.

Farooq

One of democracy's finese principles is the single fudemental of "all [wo]men created equal" and "one [wo]man, one vote." Why should it be otherwise? Isn't this the purest and most fair type of democracy, that evey single person shoudl they are casting a vote that is relavitly the same value as that of their neighbour, or a person from another region? Yet for some strange, undemocratic, and unfair reason many professing democracies rig their electoral system otherwise. For example the US Sena...
