Stricter punishment for excessive use of force

Should there be stricter punishment for law enforcement officers who use excessive use of force that results in injury or even death? Yes! They are still people committing a crime against another person regardless of status. If there is enough evidence against the police officer they should be punished just like a regular citizen.
